Commentary :
0.0 :

Will Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians be able to turn around the fortunes today? For that matter, will Kings XI Punjab? If Mumbai lose they may fall to the bottom of the table. Well, Punjab are already there....

Mumbai have reached 25/1 in 5 overs after some risk-taking. They must aim to score at least 50 off the next five overs to set up a decent platform for the batsmen coming in later.

17.1 :

WHAT A RIDICULOUS SHOT. Eyes away from the ball, moving all around the crease, plays a standing scoop over fine leg. It almost went for six. That's a bizarrely outstanding shot.

0.2 :

OUT. Rohit Sharma has a blob alongside his name. He has never been in form really for a while now, and it was fairly obvious to anyone who saw the last match.

Parthiv Patel has reached his 50 in 41 balls after huffing and puffing the whole way. Surely not a 'fantastic innings' as they think up in the box.

2.3 :

MI have begun very slowly, scoring 11 from the first 15 balls. Someone needs to play a solidly aggressive innings up front, otherwise Mumbai (and other teams) will never reach substantial totals to defend.

SIX. SIX. Back to back sixes for Ambati Rayudu after Parthiv's pyrotechnics fetched 11 off the last over. But then, Rayudu holes out off the third ball, and he's got the run rate up to nine and a half along with Parthiv. Who will come in next?

SIX, SIX. Jos Buttler comes in and ensures the game does not slow down after Rayudu's wicket. The first six of course, was hit by Parthiv. The run rate is almost 10 per over now. It's time to target 200.

0.4 :

Axar Patel has dropped. Rayudu mis-times his sweep to deep midwicket. Axar gets to the ball but puts it down. Could be a big wicket in the circumstances. Rayudu is playing really well.

Parthiv Patel has got out trying to flick a ball over third man for six. To be fair to him the ball was too high for the tiny man and he tried really hard. Nevertheless, Parthiv got a valuable 81 after some luck. His highest IPL score I think.

12.5 :

FOUR. Parthiv is now being labeled a genius in the box.

Speaking to this commentary team, Corey Anderson implies that even he has no idea why he is not in the playing XI. We wonder. Mumbai need big hitters other than Pollard, and 84% of the IPL fans agree that Anderson should be one of them.

Slower ball, Jos Buttler who is in crazy swishing mode is gone, bowled. Can this swishing and scooping and swinging get Mumbai to 200? They still need 26 from the last 13 balls to get there.

Kieron Pollard gets out failing to judge the pace the entire over. 4 runs from 5 balls in the final over. The last 5 overs have belonged to KXIP just as the first 5 did.

5.6 :

Parthiv Patel has scored 23 from 24 balls and failed to make much of an impact in this year's IPL. He needs a big score today to justify his presence in the side.

RCB is trolling Parthiv:

Parthiv Patel got lucky with an edged four in the 10th over. But Mumbai have pushed themselves up to 77 in 10 overs courtesy some decent batting from Rayudu and poor fielding from Punjab. That is 52 off the last 5 overs. How many can they get in the last 10? 100 will be good.

SIX. FOUR. That makes it 16 runs in three balls, which have revived the Mumbai Indians batting. They finish on 101 after 12 overs. But more such efforts are required. At least 80 from the last eight.

Another wicket fell off the last ball to make it 4 runs and 2 wickets in the Mohit Sharma over. Mumbai dominated the innings from over 6 to 15, and KXIP dominated the first five and the last four. The last four fetched 33 runs, while the first five 25. The middle eleven fetched 131. Overall, this is a slightly above average score on this flat wicket. Mumbai will be unhappy they could not get to 200.
