| Hello everyone and welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the second Test between India and England from the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Phew, the deficit for England right now is as long as the name of the stadium, a whopping 352 runs and they have a lot of catch up to do. |
| After putting up a massive total on board, the Indian spinners ran through the England batting line-up to have them reeling at 80 for 5. The pair of Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow has steadied them a bit but they will know their work is far from done. Their first aim will be to avoid the follow-on. The pitch though might be the one which has the most impact. |

| A very good session for England! They scored 88 runs in the session losing just the one wicket. India began the day being a bit over enthusiastic. There were overthrows, a review was taken desperately as the pair of Stokes and Bairstow did not offer many opportunities. There was one from Stokes when Saha failed to stump him, he was on 21 then. Both of them registered their respective fifties and mixed caution with aggression to frustrate the Indians further. |
| Stokes and Bairstow shared a 110-run stand before a wicket fell towards the fag end of the session. Bairstow was cleaned up by one that swung in very late for a hard working 53. Stokes is still out there and with the deficit still 264 runs, England will want him to eat into it as much possible. India will aim to take the remaining wickets soon and get a huge lead. | Another fabulous day for India! They didn't start off the day well as in the morning Bairstow and Stokes frustrated them for almost the entire session and stitched a crucial 110-run stand. However, after lunch the hosts came out all guns blazing and it was Ravichandran Ashwin who tormented the English lower order by getting his 22nd 5-wicket haul in Tests. |
| England were eventually bundled out for 255 and handed a massive 200-run lead. The visitors did well to jolt the home side early as both the openers were sent back cheaply. | What an anti-climatic finish that was. Cook did all the hard work but got out just at the stroke of stumps. You have to applaud their efforts so far to save this Test match though. They started the day by bowling India out in the extended first session and then started off cautiously. They didn't lose a single wicket in the second session but lost two in the final one. |
| Cook and Hameed were simply blocking out almost everything and that was working for them even when the odd ball was staying low. The openers added 75 in more than 50 overs and then Ashwin eventually got the desperate breakthrough for India. Cook scored a fifty and then got out towards the end when Jadeja got him out leg before. |
| So England have to bat three more sessions to save this Test. India need to come back harder tomorrow to pick those 8 wickets. The English players would have had a better sleep if Cook was still out there but that dismissal make India clear favourites once again. It won't be easy to bat on this wicket on the final day. It's going to be different today though on a day 5 wicket which has a lot of cracks and rough patches. |

| Coming into the final day, this is just what India would have wanted. They have dominated the opening session and ran right through the English batting order by picking up 5 wickets for 55 runs in just 33.4 overs. It was Ravichandran Ashwin who started proceedings as he removed Duckett quite early. And from that point on, wickets kept tumbling at timely intervals. Most important of them being that of Joe Root. England are in real trouble now as 7 wickets have fallen. |
| The hosts have bowled superbly today. Not that they were bad yesterday, but the assistance from the track has increased. | After winning the toss, India opted to bat first and posted a good first innings total. Centuries from Pujara and Kohli got them beyond 400 and one stage it looked like they would easily go beyond 500 but England came back hard on day 2. | In reply, apart from Root, the English top order failed once again. Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow shared a century stand and their fifties helped England cross the 250-run mark. Ashwin was the destroyer-in-chief once again as the offie grabbed a 5-fer. India in their second innings failed to bat as a unit. Only Kohli was middling the ball and the rest struggled. | It was always going to be an uphill task for the visitors to bat five sessions in India in the fourth innings. Their openers showed some great application and dug in deep, but eventually the pitch did its part and Hameed got out to a ball that stayed low.
