AUS 202/10 (43.1)
Match over
0.0 : Rain, rain go away, come again another day - this is what the Australians would be praying coming into the second ODI. Hello and welcome to our coverage of the game, which is to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Australia will be wary of the spin attack that the hosts posses and they would look to tackle them well. They would know that it was their batting that was a huge let down in the first game and they can't afford another bad day at the office.
India, on the other hand, would want their top order to fire in unison. They were fortunate to be bailed out by the lower middle order in the first game and wouldn't want a rescue act yet again from them. Kohli would hope for a complete game against the Aussies. Stay with us as we get you the toss in a while.
TOSS - INDIA WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO BAT FIRST!
VIRAT KOHLI, the Indian skipper, says they will bat first. Adds it looks a nice and hard wicket and there isn't a lot of moisture in it. Further says they are playing with two spinners in the side and would look to defend again today. Continues saying there were a lot of talks about their top order but it was good to see the middle and lower order bailing them out. Ends by saying they are playing with the same eleven and the last game has given them the confidence which has lifted them up.
STEVEN SMITH, the Australian skipper, says that it is a good feeling to play 100 games for his side but it has taken him 7 years to get there. Reckons that it looks a good pitch and would have loved to bat first, but they will turn up and bowl well. Informs that Kane Richardson is in for James Faulkner and Ashton Agar replaces Adam Zampa.
TEAM CHANGES - India have no reason to change their combination and are going unchanged. Australia have made a couple of changes as mentioned by Steven Smith.
It's time for the national anthems of both the sides.

27.6 : A Agar to V Kohli, Serves this outside off, Kohli takes a run towards long off.
KANE RICHARDSON is back for another spell.
28.1 : K Richardson to V Kohli, FOUR! Tripe! Bowling on the pads isn't really the greatest of deliveries that you can bowl. He lands this on a length around middle, Kohli moves across and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary. Sunil Gavaskar on-air says that he fails to understand why Smith is still at the slips leaving mid-wicket open.
28.2 : K Richardson to V Kohli, Length ball outside off, guided to third man for a run.
28.3 : K Richardson to K Jadhav, Short ball around leg, Jadhav pulls it down to fine leg for a single.
28.4 : K Richardson to V Kohli, This delivery is bowled outside off, driven by Kohli towards covers.
28.5 : K Richardson to V Kohli, Lands this a tad fuller around middle, he drives it down to long on for a single.
28.6 : K Richardson to K Jadhav, This ball is played from within the crease.
29.1 : A Agar to V Kohli, Flighted delivery around off, driven along the ground through cover for a single.
29.2 : A Agar to K Jadhav, Flattish through the air around off, Jadhav dabs it wide of Stoinis at short third man and takes a single.
29.3 : A Agar to V Kohli, Around middle and off, eased down to long on for a single.
29.4 : A Agar to K Jadhav, Drifts this one on the pads, Kedar nudges it behind square on the leg side and sets off. The fielder there has a shy at the bowler's end but it's way away from Agar who fails to collect. Steven Smith at covers too fails to get to it which allows them to take another. A bit of sloppiness from the Aussies here.
29.5 : A Agar to K Jadhav, The batsman works it down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single.
29.6 : A Agar to V Kohli, Drops it a bit short on middle and leg, worked away through the leg side for a single.
30.1 : K Richardson to V Kohli, Runs in and spears this on a length on the pads, Kohli just flicks it away wristily to fine leg for a single.
30.2 : K Richardson to K Jadhav, Again he's bowled a length ball on the pads, Jadhav tucks it down to fine leg for a run. He's straying often on the pads which is not a good thing.
30.3 : K Richardson to V Kohli, Short ball around off, Kohli stands tall and pulls it through mid-wicket for a brace.
30.4 : K Richardson to V Kohli, Serves a delivery outside off, Kohli plays it through covers for a run.

30.6 : K Richardson to K Jadhav, WIDE! Richardson bowls a bouncer around off and middle, Jadhav looks to pull initially but lets it go eventually. The umpire has to stretch his arms.
K Richardson to K Jadhav, Kane lands this on a length around off, Jadhav pushes it towards covers.
Drinks are on the field now! The Australians would look at this break to think of ways to get rid off Kohli as quickly as they can. He's very dangerous towards the death - a strike rate of about 138 between overs 41 to 50 is a fact - and they would well know this. The Indians would love their skipper to carry on and Jadhav would try and get himself in in a bid to up the ante.
31.1 : A Agar to V Kohli, Flatter one outside off, slapped behind square on the off side by Jadhav for a single.
31.2 : A Agar to K Jadhav, Tosses it up around middle and leg, nudged away towards short fine leg.
31.3 : A Agar to K Jadhav, Slower through the air and lands it full outside off, pushed towards the point fielder for a single.
31.4 : A Agar to V Kohli, Drifting it around off, Kohli taps it in front of point. Wants the single but is sent back by his partner.
31.5 : A Agar to V Kohli, Loops it up outside off, eased through cover for one.
31.6 : A Agar to K Jadhav, Ashton gives it a nice flight outside off, Kedar looks to drive it through covers but gets it off the inner half down to long on for one.

32.2 : M Stoinis to K Jadhav, Good length delivery on off, defended off the front foot.

32.4 : M Stoinis to K Jadhav, Bowls a slower one outside off, it's too wide actually and the umpire stretches his hands to call it a wide.
M Stoinis to K Jadhav, Good awareness by the batsmen! Length delivery, slower through the air and beats the slash of Jadhav. Wade gets a bad bounce and is hit on the right hand. He is down in pain and Kohli calls Jadhav through for a bye. Got to feel for Wade here.
32.5 : M Stoinis to V Kohli, FOUR! Excellent shot! Sees the width and Kohli pounces on it. The ball blazes past Maxwell at point for a boundary.
32.6 : M Stoinis to V Kohli, Opens the face of the bat and glides it down to third man for a single.
33.1 : A Agar to V Kohli, Tossed up on the pads, Kohli whips it wide of long on and scurries for a brace.
0.0 : The umpires calls it a dead ball. Kohli isn't amused. Agar's towel fell down as he was in his delivery stride. The umpire spots that and immediately signals a dead ball. Kohli was unaffected by that and he played a late cut towards third man and looked to collect some runs. The ball raced away to the third man fence and Kohli will robbed. Could be a factor if he ends up falling around 96-99!
33.2 : A Agar to V Kohli, Floats it up around middle and leg, Kohli gets down to play the sweep shot but misses and is hit on the pads.
33.3 : A Agar to V Kohli, Makes a bit of room and drives it through mid off for a single.

33.6 : A Agar to K Jadhav, FOUR! Too easy! Drifts one down the leg side and Jadhav doesn't let it go waste. He swipes it past the short fine leg fielder and picks up back-to-back boundaries. Spoils the over with that too.
Between 32nd and 33rd overs, we could see Wade give some words of wisdom to Kohli. He didn't seem pleased with the batsmen stealing a bye after the ball hit him on the arm. The discussion might have been about that.
34.1 : M Stoinis to V Kohli, Back of a length outside off, glided down to third man for a single.
34.2 : M Stoinis to K Jadhav, SIX! That's gone the distance! Stoinis bowls it short, wide and outside off. Jadhav stays back and just throws his hands at it. Gets enough meat to send it sailing over the third man fence for a biggie. The little man is getting a move on here. Two boundaries in the previous over and now a maximum.
34.3 : M Stoinis to K Jadhav, Back of a length delivery on middle and off, defended back to the bowler.
34.4 : M Stoinis to K Jadhav, Short of a length delivery, angling in, tucked in front of mid-wicket for a single.

34.6 : M Stoinis to V Kohli, Waits for the ball to come and then at the last moment opens the face of the bat to run it down to third man for a single.

35.1 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Good length delivery outside off, punched off the front foot towards point where Maxwell dives to stop some runs.
35.2 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Strays a bit on the pads, worked through mid-wicket for a single.
35.3 : N Coulter-Nile to K Jadhav, OUT! Coulter-Nile strikes! Maxwell hardly puts anything down, says Harsha Bhogle on-air. The bowler comes in and drops it on a shorter length outside off. It was there to be hit and Jadhav obliges. He cuts it but much to his dismay the ball travels quickly to Maxwell at backward point, who gobbles it with a reverse cup. A wicket at the right time for the Aussies as these two were looking really good out there.
The buzz around the ground just get louder! MS DHONI is slated to walk out and he does! There's nothing stopping the crowd. It's his 300th ODI in India colours and every MS fan would want and expect a special knock from him. There's still a lot of time in the innings.
35.4 : N Coulter-Nile to MS Dhoni, An appeal for a caught behind! Bowls it short this time, around middle and leg. Dhoni looks to help it away but does so half-heartedly. It goes towards Wade and an appeal has been made. Turned down by the umpire.
35.5 : N Coulter-Nile to MS Dhoni, FOUR! And Dhoni is away! Coulter-Nile offers a short ball to him but it doesn't bouncer as much as he would have expected it to be. Dhoni swivels a touch and pulls it firmly down to the fine leg fence for a boundary. The crowd gets going now.

36.1 : M Stoinis to V Kohli, Lands this on a length around middle, Kohli hits it straight to mid-wicket.

37.2 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Lands this outside off, Kohli pushes it to point.
37.3 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Nathan runs in and bowls a slower back of a length ball outside off. Kohli looks to pull but is early into the shot. Ends up missing it as the ball goes on the bounce to Wade.
37.4 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Length ball around middle and leg, Kohli flicks it through the right of the mid-wicket fielder. Cummins runs to his left from deep square leg and saves a couple of runs for his side.
37.5 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, OUT! Kohli plays on! The crowd gets quiet! Coulter-Nile is all pumped up. He gets Kohli again and denies him a century. Serves a length ball just around off, Kohli looks to guide it towards third man but ends up playing it onto the stumps. This ball stayed a tad low and that is Virat's undoing. The umpire goes upstairs to check for a no ball but Nathan seems to be fine. This is a big wicket for the Australians as the Indian skipper has the ability to cut loose to
The hard-hitting all-rounder HARDIK PANDYA walks out next.
37.6 : N Coulter-Nile to H Pandya, FOUR! Streaky way to get going! Coulter-Nile bowls it on a length around off and middle, Pandya looks to defend. The ball takes the inside edge of the bat and races over the leg stump and into the fine leg fence for a boundary. Lucky!

The heavens have opened up all of a sudden. It's absolutely pelting down.
What happened there? Hardik Pandya gets caught by Steven Smith but he thinks he is gone and hence doesn't run and rushes back towards the dressing room. Australia will be really happy with the way they came back in the end, giving away just 45 runs in the last ten overs and picking up four wickets, to keep the hosts in check. The home side was cruising along when Rahane and Kohli were at the crease, stitching a 102-run stand to set things rolling. The former scored a well-constructed fifty while the skipper missed out on a ton by 8 runs. Credit to the Aussie bowlers for persisting with tight lines and lengths and offered freebies at a premium to
India, on the other hand, would be a tad disappointed to not get closer to 300. They lost momentum in the middle overs and the knockout punch just didn't arrive. Pandya got a life yet he couldn't make a difference. It doesn't seem to be an easy pitch to bat on and change of pace would be the key. Australia would require a good batting effort on their part to hunt the target down. Will they tackle spin better to level the series or will we see a repeat performance from their batters? A brilliant performance from India and they have taken a 2-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series. This is their 8th consecutive win in ODIs, a commendable feat indeed! After posting a competitive total on this two-paced track, their bowlers came out firing on all cylinders, especially Kumar who jolted the visitors early by nipping out both the openers and nearly got Head as well.

And after the Australian skipper returned to the pavilion, a collapse followed.
Both the wrist spinners combined together to weave their magic. They took 5 wickets in 20 overs for 88 runs to dent the tourists. Kuldeep Yadav impressed the most, taking his maiden hat-trick in ODI cricket. Stoinis played an entertaining knock to keep his side in with an outside chance but the task proved to be too much for him and eventually, he was left stranded.
Australian skipper, STEVEN SMITH says he was pretty happy with the target set as they pulled things back nicely in the first innings. Mentions that they crumbled under pressure, making some poor decisions and adds that they can't afford it against a quality side like India.
