Match over
0.0 : Hello and a warm welcome to the 20th match of the Indian T20 League. It's the bottom of the table clash as Gujarat hosts Bangalore. Both these teams are troubling to find the right team combination and its resulting in their performances. They have won just one match each and will look to change their fortunes before they run out of time.
Both the teams have a start-studded batting line-up but their bowling hasn't been upto the mark. Bringing in Samuel Badree and Andrew Tye have improved their performances with the ball for the respective teams but it still hasn't proved to be enough. So, it looks like the team who is more clinical with the ball will have the upper hand tonight.
TOSS - GUJARAT WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO FIELD!
Gujarat captain, Suresh Raina says they are going to bowl first. Opines that they chased last year also and that is how the combination is so the preference of batting second. Reveals that there are three changes - Shivil Kaushik, Dhawal Kulkarni and Aaron Finch come in place of Jason Roy, Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar. Ends by saying that they will have to chase well.
Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli starts by saying that AB de Villiers and Samuel Badree miss out because of niggles. Adds that Travis Head and Chris Gayle come in place of them. Conveys that both teams are looking for some momentum and they are eager to get some points on the board. Opines that the pitch will be consistent and they will have to bat well first up.
The players and the umpires are out in the middle. The dangerous opening duo of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli stride out to bat. Dhawal Kulkarni to bowl first up. Here we go...
0.1 : D Kulkarni to C Gayle, Kulkarni initiates his spell with a good length delivery in the line of the stumps, Chris Gayle defends it towards covers to get off the mark with a run. Bangalore are away.
0.2 : D Kulkarni to V Kohli, Fuller length ball, good shape, swings away a tad, Kohli is rock solid in defense.
0.3 : D Kulkarni to V Kohli, Kulkarni bowls this full and around off, Virat Kohli flicks it uppishly by going on the front foot. It seemed like the ball will carry to Ishan Kishan at mid-wicket, however it falls short. One run taken.
0.4 : D Kulkarni to C Gayle, Gayle pats this short of a length ball towards point and runs one.
0.5 : D Kulkarni to V Kohli, FOUR! Deft touch! Fuller length ball, outside off, Kohli opens the face of the bat and places it past the keeper for a boundary. It was very intentional and he gets the desired result.
0.6 : D Kulkarni to V Kohli, Kohli tries to clip this fullish ball but it takes the leading edge and goes towards Dwayne Smith at cover-point where he misfields and that allows them to take a run.
Basil Thampi to share the new ball.
1.1 : B Thampi to V Kohli, On a back of a length and outside off, Kohli blocks it.
1.2 : B Thampi to V Kohli, Marginally ahead of a length delivery, which nips back in, Virat pushes it towards the off side.
1.3 : B Thampi to V Kohli, Hurls a length ball, which comes back in as Kohli tries to nudge it away. But he misses and gets rapped on his thigh pad. Thampi appeals for some reason but it was never going to be out. Just some optimism from the youngster.
1.4 : B Thampi to V Kohli, Length ball, around off, Virat mistimes his drive towards covers.
1.5 : B Thampi to V Kohli, FOUR! Fortunate runs! Thampi's tournament so far has been very unlucky. He bowls a back of a length delivery around off, Kohli tries to pull it away but top edges it over the short fine leg fielder for a boundary. Virat Kohli has so far looked tentative at the crease, maybe he should take his time before he starts going for his shots.

2.4 : D Kulkarni to V Kohli, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries! This time Kulkarni bowls a help yourself ball. Length and around leg, all Kohli had to do was get some wood on it and he does. He nurdles it past the short fine leg fielder, who gives it a chase only to come second.

3.4 : B Thampi to V Kohli, Kohli pushes this length ball side towards covers where McCullum half stops it and the batsmen take a single.
3.5 : B Thampi to C Gayle, SIX! Poor delivery and duly punished. Was Thampi trying to bowl a yorker? I don't know, but it was a full toss outside off, Chris Gayle won't miss out on those everyday. He whacks the ball over mid off to score the first maximum of the night. Umpires go upstairs to check whether it was a boundary or maximum. But replays show that it landed on the boundary ropes.
3.6 : B Thampi to C Gayle, Almost chops on! Short ball from Thampi which is outside off, Gayle tries to pull it but it takes the inside edge and hits his pad. On any other day he would have been a goner.

5.1 : R Jadeja to V Kohli, Tossed up delivery, around leg, Kohli clips it through mid-wicket to bring Chris Gayle back on strike.

6.3 : S Kaushik to C Gayle, DROPPED! Gayle and Karthik both would be ruing at giving away opportunities. Kaushik bowls this short and outside leg, yes you read it right, Gayle swivels looking to pull it away but only manages a faint edge. Karthik does follow the line of the ball but fails to catch it. Gayle can afford a smile, Karthik can't. Single taken.

6.5 : S Kaushik to C Gayle, SIX! Sheer power! Kaushik bowls it full and outside off, in simpler words, it is in Gayle's arc. He slams the ball over long off for a biggie.

7.5 : R Jadeja to C Gayle, SIX! That's out of the ground! Jadeja floats this one around off, Gayle kneels and slogs it over mid-wicket for a maximum. The big man in the mood. He is absolutely clobbering Ravindra Jadeja here!
The umpires have gone upstairs to check if McCullum has touched the ropes while taking Gayle's catch at wide long off. The soft signal is 'out'!
7.6 : R Jadeja to C Gayle, NOT OUT AND SIX! This is one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen in cricket. Jadeja, goes around the wicket, and bowls a full toss outside off, Gayle swings at it. The connection wasn't neat though. Brendon McCullum hares across from long off, dives and grabs the ball. He starts celebrating and Jadeja is ecstatic to get his man. Gayle starts walking but is asked to stop by the umpires. They don't want to take any chances and go upstairs to check whether its a c
Time Out has been taken. It has been the Gayle-Kohli show so far. Gujarat started off brilliantly but then were taken apart by the opening duo of Bangalore. They were a touch unfortunate as they could have seen the back of Gayle just at the verge of break.

Shivil Kaushik replaces Jadeja.
9.1 : S Kaushik to C Gayle, Sloppy fielding! Kaushik for some reason keeps bowling it short and around leg, does he want to get punished? 9.3 : S Kaushik to C Gayle, SIX! Kaushik bowls it full and around off, Gayle gets under the white object and goes downtown. Bangalore have managed to register the highest score of this year's Indian T20 League, courtesy some shoddy bowling and splendid batting. It was the Chris Gayle show in Rajkot as he slammed and whacked everything that was in his arc in his innings of 77. It seemed like Gayle could hit a century, but Basil Thampi got rid of the big man to give his side some respite. At the other end it was Virat Kohli who complemented Gayle amazingly well and tried to accelerate after his wicket.
When Kohli fell, the hosts must have thought that they can restrict the visitors under 200. But Kedar Jadhav and Travis Head had other ideas. They both stitched together a 54-run stand off 4.1 overs to guide their side to the total of 213. Talking about the Gujarat bowlers, their best bowler was Basil Thampi who's economy was only 7.75. Andrew Tye too was decent in the context of the match. But other than that everyone endured a bad day at the office. Given the pitch and conditions, the chase lo

1.1 : Y Chahal to D Smith, Looped up delivery, outside off, Smith mistimes his slog towards mid-wicket.

The Gujarat captain was playing a blinder but a false shot has led to his demise. The umpires go upstairs to check the no-ball but its fine! Chahal gets his second.
