0.3 : 0.3: K Roach to Stoneman, FOUR! First runs for Stoneman in Test cricket! What a way to get off the mark. Full and outside off, Stoneman leans into it and drives it through covers for a boundary. That was a lovely shot from the debutant.
0.5 : 0.5: K Roach to Stoneman, FOUR! No nerves for this guy! Full and on the pads, Stoneman flicks it through square leg and the ball races to the fence. Second boundary for Stoneman in the space of three balls.

2.1 : 2.1: K Roach to M Stoneman, OUT! KABOOM! What a jaffa! How do you play that one? Lands it on a length on middle, nips away a touch. Stoneman tries to defend it but gets beaten and the ball hits the top of off. What a return for Kemar Roach. A wayward first over but he is has started this over in explicable fashion. Stoneman the debutant has to depart not a good outing for him. The opening issues for England continue.
3.1: A Joseph to Cook, FOUR! You can't bowl on this guys pads. Cook flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
3.5 : 3.5: A Joseph to Cook, FOUR! He is dealing in boundaries! Full and outside off, Cook drives it through covers and the ball races to the fence.

4.1 : 4.1: K Roach to Westley, FOUR! TOP SHOT! Full and on middle, Westley drives it straight back past the bowler and the ball races to the fence. Tom gets off the mark with that boundary.
5.1: A Joseph to Cook, FOUR! He plays that shot to great effect. Lands it on a length on off, Cook guides it through the slip cordon for another boundary. Cook is off to a brisk start here.
5.4 : 5.4: A Joseph to Westley, FOUR! It is raining boundaries here. A tad short outside off, Westley rocks back and punches it through covers and the ball races to the fence.
7.3 : 7.3: M Cummins to Westley, OUT! A brilliant, brilliant review by West Indies. What a start for them. They have their second. Full ball outside off shaping in, Westley misses the flick and is struck on the pads. The Windies appeal and the umpire shakes his head. After a chat with his teammates, Holder decides to review and they go upstairs. The front foot is fine. There is no inside edge. The ball is pitching in line, has struck him in line and is going on to hit the leg stump. Three reds and the
10.4 : 10.4: J Holder to A Cook, FOUR! Again! He has played this shot four times today and has always fetched a boundary. Back of a length on off, Cook opens the face off his bat and guides it down to third man and the ball races to the fence.
11.6 : 11.6: M Cummins to Root, FOUR! Root plays that shot with a lot of authority. Shorter in length outside off, Root camps back and guides it through backward point for a boundary.
14.6: J Holder to Joe Root, FOUR! Just eased it! Shot! Fuller and it's wide outside off, Root's eye lit up as he leans across and drives it through covers for a boundary. No need to run for those.
15.2 : 15.2: M Cummins to Cook, FOUR! Easily done! A bit short and down the leg side, all Cook had to do was to get some part of wood on it. He does so and the long leg fielder had no chance to cut it off.
18.4 : 18.4: J Holder to Root, FOUR! You cannot bowl short to Root, he will hit you all day. Short and gives him width, Root camps back and punches it through the off side for a boundary.
19.3 : 19.3: M Cummins to Cook, FOUR! POOR LINE! Short and on off, Cook pushes it off the back foot through covers and the ball races to the fence.
20.2 : 20.2: J Holder to Root, FOUR! WOW! Lovely from Root. Full and outside off, Root leans into it and drives it through covers for boundary.
20.6 : 20.6: J Holder to Root, FOUR! Through the off side this time. Holder bowls it full on the pads, Root leans across and flicks it through mid-wicket and the ball races to the fence. Two boundaries in the over.
21.2 : 21.2: K Roach to Cook, FOUR! EASY PEASY! Short and angling into the batsman, Cook rocks back and pulls it through square leg for another boundary. He is timing the ball brilliantly.
24.4 : 24.4: A Joseph to Root, FOUR! Joseph strays on the pads this time. Root camps back and flicks it through the square leg region and the ball races to the fence.
24.5 : 24.5: A Joseph to Joe Root, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Not as convincing as the last one. Full and swinging away outside off, Root tries to drive but gets an outside edge through backward point and the ball races to the fence. In the recently concluded series between South Africa and England, Faf du Plessis always had a fielder behind square on the off side for Root as he scores a lot of runs there.
25.2 : 25.2: K Roach to A Cook, FOUR! TOP SHOT! Full and wide outside off, Cook drives it through the covers and the ball races to the fence.
25.6 : 25.6: K Roach to Root, FOUR! Through the leg side this time! Full and on the pads, Root flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary. Root has looked very solid here.

33.2 : 33.2: M Cummins to Cook, FOUR! An overpitched ball around leg, Cook is too good a batsman to miss out on a gift. He picks it off his pads and clips it superbly through mid-wicket for a glorious boundary.
34.2: J Holder to Root, FOUR! A flashy shot! Width on offer outside off, short in length as well, Root flashes his blade through the line and it flies down to third man off the outside edge for a boundary. 11th score of 50 or more in succession for him! Run machine, truly.
36.4 : 36.4: J Holder to Cook, FOUR! Holder switches to around the wicket but fails to get the line right. Too straight and Cook tucks it behind square leg for a boundary.
37.2 : 37.2: A Joseph to Root, FOUR! Glorious! Joseph digs in a short ball on middle, a gentle pace, 80 mph, Root rides the bounce, swivel inside the crease with his pull shot and nails it in front of square leg for a boundary.
37.3 : 37.3: A Joseph to Root, FOUR! On the other side of the wicket this time. Width on offer outside off, Root plays it extremely late and guides it down to third man for a boundary. This is buffet bowling, on both sides of the pitch, really poor from a youngster.
38.6 : 38.6: J Holder to Cook, FOUR! Easy pickings! Holder bowls five good balls and now slips a length ball on middle and leg, Cook gets across and nudges it fine down the leg side for a boundary.
39.4 : 39.4: A Joseph to Root, FOUR! Quality shot from a quality batsman! Full in length around off, angling into the batsman, Root gets on the front foot with a vertical bat and caresses it down the ground for a beautiful boundary. Interestingly, this is the first shot played by Root in the V!
40.6 : 40.6: J Holder to Cook, FOUR! Beautifully done! An overpitched delivery on middle, Cook has no qualms in flicking it through square leg for a boundary. They are bowling too many boundary balls and not letting any pressure build.
41.3 : 41.3: A Joseph to Root, FOUR! Help yourself! Short and wide outside off, Root latches onto it and whacks it through cover-point for a boundary. These are free runs on offer and Joe is collecting them with open arms.
42.4 : 42.4: J Holder to Root, FOUR! Doesn't try to hit it hard! Full in length and angling into the batsman, Root strokes it in the V, wide of the mid on fielder and it races through to the fence. Elegance personified. This chap is so soothing to the eyes!
47.3 : 47.3: M Cummins to Root, FOUR! Short and wide outside off, Root just love them there, rocks back and slaps it square of the wicket on the off side. The deep point fielder runs across to his left but fails to make the stop.
48.1 : 48.1: K Roach to Root, EDGY FOUR! Not many false shots from Root today, he has looked in completely control up until this moment. A full ball on off, straightening a touch, Joe tries to drive it through covers but it goes off the outer portion of the bat and runs wide of the slip cordon for a boundary. Roach is disappointed.
50.5 : 50.5: K Roach to Cook, FOUR! STREAKY! A tad fuller on off, Cook tries to push at it but gets an outside edge through gully for a boundary. Kemar Roach looks a frustrated figure as nothing his going his way.

64.3 : 64.3: A Joseph to A Cook, FOUR! CRUNCHED! Short and wide outside off, Cook cuts it hard through backward point for a boundary. That made a cracking sound off the bat.
74.2 : 74.2: Roach to Joe Root, OUT! The bowling change has worked wonders! Kemar Roach has provided the Windies with the breakthrough they wanted. Comes from wide of the crease and bowls it very full and fast on middle, Root tries to drive it but gets beaten by the swing into him and the ball rattles the middle stump. The 248-run stand has been broken. The English skipper has to depart after playing an extremely good knock. Kemar Roach is delighted, he has bowled really well today. Can the visitors b

86.1 : 86.1: K Roach to Cook, FOUR! That was very sloppy from Alzarri! He has not had a great day in the field and nor with the ball. Roach bowls it on the pads, Cook flicks it behind square leg. Alzarri runs to his right from fine leg, gets there but puts in a lazy effort to stop the ball and the ball goes to the boundary.
87.1: A Joseph to Cook, FOUR! POOR STUFF! They just can't find their lines. Angles it into the pads, Cook flicks it fine and the ball races to the fine leg fence.
87.5 : 87.5: A Joseph to Cook, FOUR! Full and on the pads, Cook flicks it past the diving mid on fielder for a boundary. This also brings his 150 up.
93.6 : 93.6: J Holder to Cook, FOUR! It goes through this time! Similar length delivery, Cook opens the face of the bat and guides it through the slip cordon for a boundary. He played this shot to a lot of effect yesterday.

103.2: M Cummins to A Cook, FOUR! This outfield is lightning quick! Very full ball on middle, Cook jams it out in the gap between mid on and mid-wicket. The fielder gives it a chase but to no avail as the ball races to the fence.

107.6 : 107.6: M Cummins to Malan, FOUR! He is oozing with confidence now! A low full toss outside off, Malan leans into it and drives it through backward point for a boundary.

112.2 : 112.2: K Roach to Cook, FOUR! 200 for Cook! What a player! He has made it look so easy. Full ball outside off, Cook reaches out to it and drives it through gully. The fielder in the deep makes a complete meal of it and concedes a boundary. That piece of fielding probably sums up West Indies day.
116.4 : 116.4: J Holder to Cook, FOUR! THUMPED! Bowls it short and the ball sits up for Cook who goes back in his crease and pulls it powerfully through mid-wicket for a boundary. Cook is normally not comfortable with the short ball but Holder does not have the pace to cause problems to him.
117.2 : 117.2: R Chase to D Malan, OUT! A wicket at the stroke of lunch! A typical off spinner's dismissal! Tosses it up on off, gets the ball to spin away and bounce sharply. Malan lunges forward to defend but gets an outside edge to first slip where Blackwood makes no mistake. The 162-run stand comes to an end. The youngster has played a fine knock but would be gutted with himself for not making it big. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON DAY 2!
118.1 : 118.1: J Holder to Stokes, FOUR! NO BALL! What a shot! Full ball on off, too easy for Stokes who plants his front foot ahead and drives it through mid on and the ball races to the fence. Jason has also overstepped by a long way.

121.1 : 121.1: R Chase to Stokes, OUT! Brilliant reflex by Blackwood! Stokes's cameo comes to an end. Chase bowls it flatter on off, Stokes goes for the reverse sweep but the ball takes the top edge and flies to first slip who takes a very good catch. 125.2 : 125.2: R Chase to Bairstow, FOUR! DEFT! Bowls it quick outside off, Jonny waits for the ball and plays it late through short third man and the ball races to the fence.
129.1 : 129.1: R Chase to Cook, FOUR! Easily guided! Chase bowls it flat and that too outside off. With no third man in place, Cook decides to take full toll of it. Camps back and guides it through the vacant backward point region for a boundary.
129.3 : 129.3: R Chase to A Cook, FOUR! Uppish but safe! Once again it's quicker through the air, Cook's eyes light up as flays it through backward point again. Finds the fence one more.
130.4 : 130.4: J Holder to Bairstow, OUT! Dragged on! Jason Holder finally gets a wicket! He drops it on a length outside off, Bairstow goes chasing after it but the ball comes back in a touch after hitting the deck, cramps the English keeper for room and that does him in. He gets an inside edge which goes on to disturb the timber. Once again a wicket against the run of play.
131.5 : 131.5: R Chase to Ali, OUT! Moeen Ali bags a duck! Roston Chase gets his third wicket! He gives it a decent flight, lands it outside off. Ali dances down the track to go big down the ground but the ball goes off the splice of the bat and lobs towards backward point where Kraigg Brathwaite nicely settles under that one. The wicket has started to take some turn and that should please Ali as well.
132.3 : 132.3: J Holder to T Roland-Jones, FOUR! Edged and through! Toby Roland-Jones is off the mark in a streaky manner! Holder keeps it on a length outside off, Toby hangs his bat out as he looks to fiddle with it. Gets an outside edge that flies past Dowrich and Blackwood at first slip for a boundary.
135.5 : 135.5: R Chase to Cook, OUT! LBW! Alastair Cook has to walk back. Roston Chase was the one who was dead sure to take the review and it has paid off. He sends in a quicker delivery around off, Cook leans across to flick but misses and is hit on the pads. A loud appeal from the bowler but the umpire shakes his head. Chase after having a word with his skipper immediately takes the review. Ultra Edge shows there is no bat involved and the Ball Tracking shows, it's in line and would have gone on to h
2.2 : 2.2: J Anderson to Brathwaite, OUT! WHAT A START! An absolute ripper of a delivery from Anderson and Brathwaite's dismal form continues. Anderson bowls it full on off, swinging away. Bowls a good length ball, it skids on and takes the outside edge and falls just short of Moeen Ali, at third slip who lets it underneath his hands and the ball races to the third man fence. Stuart Broad is frustrated as he lets out a loud roar.
13.6 : 13.6: S Broad to Powell, FOUR! That was beautifully timed! Fullish on middle, Powell just flicks it with ease through mid-wicket and the ball races to the fence.
14.1 : 14.1: J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! Good length outside off, Hope camps back and pushes it uppishly through covers and the ball races to the fence on this lightning fast outfield.
15.3 : 15.3: S Broad to Powell, FOUR! That was beautifully timed! A tad fuller on off, Powell plants his front foot ahead and drives it through the covers and the ball races away to the fence.
16.6 : 16.6: J Anderson to Hope, OUT! An ideal start for England! The extra bounce does Hope in there. Anderson comes running in, bowls it on a length on off, Hope tries to block it but the ball gets big on him. It takes the shoulder of the bat and goes to Ben Stokes at gully who pouches it. He dropped one yesterday but makes no mistake this time. Hope who showed good promise, departs early.
17.5 : 17.5: S Broad to Powell, OUT! OH DEAR! That was completely needless there by Powell. Fuller ball on off, Powell drives it straight to the man at mid on and sets off for a run. Anderson stationed there does well to run to his right picks up the ball with one hand and scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end. They all appeal and the umpire refers it upstairs. Replays shows Powell was way short of his crease and out flashes on the big screen. The Windies have lost two in six balls. A dreadful s

28.5: T Roland-Jones to Hope, OUT! Timber! Toby Roland-Jones strikes. Another drag on. Maybe shades of the wicket getting a little slow? The bowler bowls it a tad fuller outside off, Hope goes for the expansive drive away from the body but gets an inside edge onto the stumps. These two were stitching some sort of a partnership but Hope has to walk back. West Indies have lost half their side and they are still trailing by 425 runs.

38.3 : 38.3: M Ali to Holder, OUT! Bairstow is right! An excellent review from England and all credit must be given to Jonny. Moeen Ali gets his man. He beat Holder's outside edge several times in his last over but gets it this time. Tosses it up outside off, Holder goes for the drive but he appears to have gotten something and that makes Bairstow excited. The English players appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Jonny wants to review and he asks the captain to. Root obliges and they go upstairs. Ult

Length ball around off stump, Blackwood wanted the single badly and nudges it towards the leg side before setting off for the run. Westley is quick to attack the ball and fires a direct hit at the striker's end. Cummins is short and replays confirm the same. WEST INDIES HAVE BEEN SHOT OUT FOR 168.
1.2 : 1.2: S Broad to Powell, FOUR! Slightly aerial but also in the gap! Full and outside off stump, draws Powell into the drive and it's a bit uppish. It's well to the left of the point fielder and races away to the fence. Broad won't mind this at all.
2.3 : 2.3: J Anderson to Brathwaite, FOUR! OPENED HIM UP! Brathwaite was in all sorts of trouble but managed to get away eventually. Full ball angled into him but shapes away late to force the outside edge. Luckily for him, it flies away between the slips and gully to the third man fence. He is off the dreaded king pair and surely will be relieved.
3.5 : 3.5: S Broad to K Powell, FOUR! STREAKY THIS TIME! Powell isn't going to die wondering. Tries to repeat a lofted back foot stroke but gets it off the outer half over backward point. Nobody in the deep and that will run away for a boundary. Frustration for England but they shouldn't mind this really.
4.2 : 4.2: J Anderson to K Powell, OUT! ANDERSON STRIKES!
