DD 164/4 (20)
Delhi won by 10 runs

Match over
1.0 :

Delhi Daredevils have been inserted into bat and hit two fours off the first over.

Delhi Daredevils have been inserted into bat and hit two fours off the first over.

14 runs from Harbhajan Singh's over gives Delhi Daredevils a bit of momentum. They have to get to 160 one way or another. Anything less will be a cakewalk for Mumbai.

Delhi Daredevils have dragged themselves to 141 in 18 overs thanks to JP Duminy. How many can they get in the last two overs? 20 would be minimum.

The umpiring hasn't been inspiring.

16.2 :

SIX. And OUT. Sanju Samson hits Mitchell McLenaghan for six and then holes out in the deep. They check for the no ball and the height of the full toss. Nothing can save Sanju Samson though. He makes 60 but too slowly to change Delhi's fortunes really.

12.3 :

This happened three years ago. But no one in Delhi Daredevils can ever dream of something like this:

4.4 :

The wicket is really holding up. Sanju Samson almost was out caught and bowled to a ball he flicked too early. Despite an apparently confident start, Delhi are just 39 in the 6th over.

19.5 :

FOUR. SIX. A leg glance six by Duminy, a Dilscoop over fine leg takes Delhi beyond 160. This was a good innings, much better than Sanju Samson's.

1.6 :

OUT. Q de Kock has played a strange shot and been dismissed. Once again, the disintegration of the team batting first begins quickly at the top of the innings. RCB have shown that the team batting first have to score in excess of 180 to win a match at this IPL.

After a struggle, Shreyas Iyer is out skying the ball into the hands of Hardik Pandya, who finally puts in some contribution in taking a decent catch.

Karun Nair talked a big game before the match, but he's out for just 5, and Harbhajan Singh gets a wicket. DD's run rate is a pathetic 6.75 after 8 overs.

Well, I am not sure it so amazing given its pace.

FOUR. Duminy has to try something new, so he Dilscoops the ball just over the keeper. After all those risks, Delhi are just 118 in 16 overs.

Comedy of errors off the last ball. Duminy was 'out', but it was declared a no ball for height. Rohit Sharma and Co were already walking off to put pressure on the umpire before he consulted the third umpire. Eventually it was called a no ball. The last ball was a full toss but legal, and hit for two by Duminy. DD finish on 164/4, a par score one would think. But a good comeback in the last 9 overs, which fetched 94 runs for the Daredevils.

End of over: DEL 164/4 (Duminy 49, Negi 10)
13.0 :

Rohit has tremendously slowed down. At one point he was 23 off 11. Now he is 46 off 37.

1.1 :

The ball is hurrying on to the batsmen, but Rohit Sharma managed to score 8 runs from the first over. This is strange. The ball was holding up in the first over.

9.2 :

Krunal Pandya has been sent out for some big hitting. Good thinking from Ponting, like sending McClenaghan the other night. Pandya has already hit one flat six.

Krunal Pandya, after that big six, has been playing some deft cuts for fours. So far, Mumbai's pinch hitting promotions have worked. Pandya needs to get a few more than 17 to make a real difference though.

Kieron Pollard is struggling, and Mumbai need 45 from 22 balls. Harbhajan Singh is ready in the wings. But Mumbai must start going for the big shots, even as Rohit compiles a fifty from 41 balls after getting off to a flyer.

First six off Chris Morris' bowling in the IPL this year. Rohit hits him for six off the second ball as if he wasn't struggling at all all this while.

First six off Chris Morris' bowling in the IPL this year. Rohit hits him for six off the second ball as if he wasn't struggling at all all this while.

6.3 :

Rohit is on his way to a substantial score tonight as well.

Rohit is on his way to a substantial score tonight as well.

Googly from Mishra gets Rayudu who comes down the track to play an outrageous, atrocious shot. He had made 25 - a start thrown away. Will the game turn now? Mumbai need 103 off 69 balls.

Jos Buttler's poor run of form continues, Amit Mishra deceives him with the flatter one. Every time a wicket falls, MI's required run rate suddenly looks difficult to achieve. 55 off 33 needed.

Rohit Sharma is run out in tragicomic fashion. Collides while Hardik Pandya while taking the second run, the fielder at one end takes off the bails without collecting the ball, but then Rohit is rolling around in pain in the middle of the wicket and is run out at the other end.

Hardik Pandya is gonna be trolled on social media.

1.4 :

But they can still find ways to get out! Parthiv Patel run out after going for a suicidal second run. It's incredible how many of these international discards or retirees are batting and bowling in the IPL this year. And apart from Gautam Gambhir, they are not doing particularly well.

FOUR, FOUR, FOUR. Rohit Sharma is on fire. It's like his poor form never happened. He's hit five boundaries now for a strike rate of 209.

OUT. Another run out, and it's Krunal Pandya. He is out for 36 off just 17, which has prevented him from running away with the game. But he has done his job.

OUT. Another run out, and it's Krunal Pandya. He is out for 36 off just 17, which has prevented him from running away with the game. But he has done his job.

Rohit has tremendously slowed down. At one point he was 23 off 11. Now he is 46 off 37.

Excellent bowling from Zaheer Khan and some poor shotmaking from a surprisingly subdued Rohit, added to an out of form Kieron Pollard has got this down to 27 off 8 balls.

13.5 :

The Delhi crowd is clearly more interested in Sachin Tendulkar than in Rohit Sharma. But they're also more interested in him than their own players.

3.6 :

Three more boundaries in the 4th over. Mumbai are racing away with the game at the moment.

Mumbai have slowed down a bit to reach 52 at the end of the Powerplay. Despite this, they are well on top here. But a wicket and some tight overs will peg them back. It's time for the strategic timeout.

Some bizarre batting from Mumbai. They don't seem to be interested in the big shots. The target has ballooned to 42 from 18 balls. Some 13 runs have come off the last 15 balls.

32 needed from 12 balls after Rohit hits a four down the ground. That was the first boundary in 35 balls, but it was mostly due to lack of trying. There is no way the match could have come down to this.

OUT. SIX AND OUT. Kieron Pollard finally managed a six off the fifth ball, and then miscued one to hole out at deep point. It is surely curtains for Mumbai now unless Rohit conjures up magic in the last over.

Delhi Daredevils have won by 10 runs. The batting in the last 8 or 9 overs from Mumbai was puzzling. They were well in control of the game at that point and could not have struggled to win. But they batted too slowly for comfort and finally found themselves in a deep mess. Hardik Pandya will be severely condemned by Twitterati tonight. He's fast becoming a new Ishant Sharma. Nevetherless, Mumbai have lost a match they should have won and are now in trouble in this IPL season.
