On April 15, 2014 the Hijra community in India welcomed the country's decision to formally recognise the third gender

Lakshmi Tripathi, an activist had then said, "This judgment is a great step towards ending the discrimination of tens of thousands of transgenders in India, who are marginalised, exploited, ostracised, discriminated, abused, and often forced into prostitution to survive." Tripathi's organisation Astitva too had filed a PIL.

A year later the Hijra community celebrates this historic judgement that marked a new era in the movement of equality for it with a powerful video similar to the much talked about Deepika Padukone's #MyChoice video.

It brings to the fore the reality of sweet freedom that is still shacked by social stigma but has raised hope and only made the fight for equal rights stronger.
