Review: 'Kote' is another gory saga

Film: Kote (Kannada)
Director: Srinivas Raju
Cast: Prajwal Devraj, Dimple Chopra, Gayathri Rao, Ravishankar
Rating: **1/2

Do gory action sequences, punch-filled dialogues and evoking late Dr Rajkumar’s name guarantee a film success? If yes, then Srinivas Raju’s Kote is well on the verge of becoming one of 2011’s biggest hits. The film is a complete action-packed entertainer, set in Hubli, with dialogues written and delivered in the dialect spoken there.

The film is about young Vignesh, who will do anything for justice and truth. He lands in Hubli, where his father has been transferred, to do his post graduation. He ends up having a brush of the dark side, when he chooses to go as a witness for a murder that he witnesses in broad daylight, which people fear on talking about.

From here begins a complete action feast, with bloody murders, loud and roaring dialogues and some cleverly crafted acting sequences. Ravishankar, who plays the villain, is a revelation and is surely going to be signed on by many more. Prajwal Devaraj, who plays an ACP in the film, is earnest and his hard work shows. Dimple Chopra and an item song by Rachana Maurya offer the skin show feast for the masses. Watch it if you will.
