Russell Brand auctions himself for women's charity

British comedian Russell Brand has raised funds for charity by auctioning a chance to meet him at a fund-raiser.

His fans had the chance to buy a prime seat at the event as he received the Man of the Year award at the Friendly House organisation, a drug and alcohol treatment centre for women, the Daily Star reported.

The auction was held online and the final bid reached $10,000.

The lucky winner met Brand and had a picture taken with him at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, where the event was held on Saturday.
