Rs12 crore for Kannada 'Godfather'!

Any producer would do anything to be in K Manju’s shoes right now. The producer has  just tasted success with his last release Kalla Malla Sulla and has four big films with four big names up his sleeves. The biggest one is Godfather, which he says is Kannada film industry’s costliest film.

“I’m spending almost Rs12 crore for Godfather. It is going to be one of my best films and I’m really excited to show this film to the Kannada fans. Currently the film is in its editing stages, while composer AR Rahman is making the tunes in London. It will be a great film, no doubt,” says Manju.

He’s about to start his equally big project — Rajanikantha. “This is being directed by Pradip Raj of Kiraathakaa fame. The film will have Duniya Vijay essaying a double role for the first time in his career. I’m hunting for the heroine,” says Manju. As for recent rumours that Sanchita Padukone has been paired opposite Vijay, he denies it saying, “I haven’t even approached her, how can she be part of the film?”

His film Shailoo, which stars Ganesh and Bhamaa, had its audio release recently and Manju is thrilled at the response. “The combination of Ganesh, S Narayan and K Manju is going to be something that everyone will watch out for. This film has come out extremely well,” says Manju.

As for his long pending release Shikari, he says, “The film is looking good for a bilingual release in November. We’re all working towards ensuring that it all happens.” And he has some big plans ahead. Manju reveals, “There’s a multilingual project being planned to be made in five languages simultaneously. No, it isn’t the Fashion remake. I shall surprise everyone shortly.”
