It was a rocking celebration about all things new and beautiful. Jain College, Jayanagar is only few months old, which celebrated its first college carnival on Tuesday with great gusto.

The two-day long intra-college fiesta christened Udbhava was inaugurated by Chenraj Jain, chairman of The Jain Group of Institutions, and BT Venkatesh, principal of the college.

“It is a proud moment for us. The college was opened recently and here we are celebrating the college festival. I wish the institute and its students and teachers all the best in all its future endeavours,” Jain said.

Echoing the excitement of a new team full of enthusiasm, principal of the college said that the carnival was to bring everyone together for the first time.

“I can feel the energy of a new and confident team, consisting of very good students and teachers. Together we can make the institute one of the best in Bangalore,” Venkatesh said.

The college, which was inaugurated in June, has about 600 students. It provides pre-university and degree courses in science, arts and commerce.

The enthusiasm among the crowd at the college was quite palpable since the beginning of the festival. A host of events varying from Tangible Timbre (classical duet) to The Silent Beats (dumb charade) tested students’ intelligence and evoked quite a lot of excitement. Business quiz, which witnessed a tough competition, received great applaud and involvement from the audience.

 “All the events evoked quite a lot of excitement. I am really happy that a two-month-old college, can hold such a mega event with great success,” Poonam Singh, a student said.

Psychosonic jingle, the spot fine show saw the students metamorphosing into inanimate characters and innovatively personifying them. The most eagerly awaited event of the carnival was the selection of the Jain Idols, titled The Acoustic Auroras.

The reverberation of music was echoed with the performance of The Turning Tides, the western group-dance show.

“I have enjoyed every bit of the festival. It has a good mix of music and dance, along with quiz competitions to test the grey cells,” Rimi Das, another degree student said.
