Transfer won’t be easy for college teachers

Getting transfers by the use of money and influence will become difficult for the government degree college lecturers in the state. From 2010-11, the state government is planning to make the transfer process more transparent.

Currently there’re no specific guidelines for these transfers. Sources from the higher education department said, “The higher education minister had asked the higher education secretary to frame a guidelines regarding this.”

“We have even submitted a memorandum to the higher education minister recently to introduce some rules for the transfers process,” said Dr H Prakash president Karnataka government college teachers association (Degree).

 AS Srikanth, secretary, higher education department, confirmed this and said, “Degree colleges comes under collegiate education department and officials from there are framing the guidelines.”

The department is planning make three categories — A, B and C like the primary and secondary education department. The lecturers who are fresh recruits will be placed under C category; then they will be promoted to B, then to A category.

But the process might be in place by next year only.
