Mysterious life of female Naga Sadhus

Ritik Raj

At Prayagraj's Magh Mela, there are also female Naga Sadhus present.

Female Nagas avoid contact with the outside world. Their penance and lifestyle become mysterious as a result of their Naga transformation.

Female Naga Sadhus are only seen on rare occasions, such as the Kumbh Mela or Magh Mela.

The world of female Naga Sadhus is absorbed only in devotion to God.

Women from all over the world are becoming Naga Sadhus, not just those from India

After becoming a female Naga Sadhu, all sadhus address her as their mother.

Naga is a title among the sages, and there are three sects: Vaishnav, Shaiva, and Udasin.

The male Naga Sadhus are both clothed and Digambara (unclothed); women are also initiated and made Naga, but they are all clothed.

To become a Naga Sadhu or Sanyasani, strict celibacy is required for 10 to 15 years.

To become a Naga Sadhu, one must persuade one's Guru that she is deserving of it and is now devoted to God.
