The table-toppers have outclassed the opposition with the ball in hand. Undoubtedly, it is Gujarat who head into the break with the momentum on their side. As for Rajasthan, this is the lowest score they have posted in Jaipur. Rajasthan need a miracle to make a game out of this when they come out on the field.
It was rather a shambolic outing for the hosts with the bat in hand. Despite losing Jos Buttler early on, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a solid partnership, which did not let affect their run rate at all. Although, once this stand was broken, there was no other stand that stood out for the hosts. In the end, they were bundled out for 118 runs. Trent Boult did what he could with the bat but could not hurt the opposition at all.
Gujarat followed the mantra 'Spin it to win it'. Their Afghani spinners, worked in tandem and did all the damage in the middle overs. The two spinners took 5 wickets in total - Rashid Khan ended with a three-fer to his name. He is the one who stood out with the ball with his economical spell.
Joshua Little is in for a chat. On this bowling performance by Gujarat, he says that it is the beauty of having so many bowlers. Shares that Ashish Nehra has been a great help to him and they have been working in tandem nicely. Shares that it is one of those wickets where it is hard to get away after the new ball and need to bowl in the right areas. Ends by informing that he will be flying after this game to join the Ireland side for the 3 ODIs against Bangladesh and hopes to return for the qua
Okay then, Gujarat will surely fancy their chances of getting over the line here, although the chase masters themselves found themselves under the pump while chasing an under-par target. Will Rajasthan be able to start good with the ball and put the pressure on the opposition early on? We shall find out soon. Do join us for the second essay.
... The Run Chase ...
We are back for Gujarat's reply. Rajasthan players are seen to be in a huddle before they take the field.
