Match over
0.1 : 0.1: M Hafeez to M Guptill, FOUR! What a start this is for New Zealand! Hafeez tosses it up on middle and leg, Guptill picks it up early and sweeps it away towards backward square leg for a boundary.
1.1: M Amir to M Guptill, OUT! Guptill drags it on! Amir is flying in celebration. What a start for him and Pakistan! He delivers it full and outside off, tempts the batsman to have a go, Guptill obliges and attempts to drive but ends up inside edging it onto the stumps. The crowd erupts in joy. Another early departure for Guptill. This time on the first ball of the second over. Last time, it was on the first ball of the match. His poor World Cup also continues.
3.2 : 3.2: M Amir to C Munro, FOUR! Right from the middle of the bat this time. Back of a length ball just outside off, Colin Munro camps back and hammers it square of the wicket on the off side for a cracking boundary. This shot will give him some confidence.
3.3 : 3.3: M Amir to C Munro, FOUR! Action replay of the previous boundary. Once again Amir is on the shorter side outside off, Munro remains on the back foot and whacks it past the diving point fielder for a boundary.
4.4 : 4.4: S Afridi to K Williamson, FOUR! Wrong line and length. Easy pickings for Williamson. A length delivery on the pads, Kane picks it up and flicks it through square leg. The fine leg fielder tries his best to make the stop near the fence but fails.
6.2 : 6.2: S Afridi to C Munro, OUT! Edged and gone! Shaheen sprints and jumps in delight! A nice delivery by him. He lands it on a length outside off, getting it to shape away just a bit, seeing the width on offer, Munro throws his bat at it but gets an outside edge behind. Haris Sohail at first slip makes no mistake. Both the Kiwi openers are sent back to the pavilion pretty early, yet again.
7.1 : 7.1: M Amir to K Williamson, FOUR! Class of this batsman is next level! Amir lands it full and outside off, Williamson leans into the drive and just times his cover drive to perfection. Doesn't try to hit it hard and just places it through the gap between extra cover and mid off for a boundary.
7.2 : 7.2: M Amir to K Williamson, FOUR! Williamson showing his full range! One boundary off the front foot and now this one off the back foot. And he is equally classy on both occasions. Back of a length ball on off, Kane pushes his weight on the back leg and sweetly punches it through covers for a boundary.
8.6 : 8.6: S Afridi to R Taylor, OUT! Sarfaraz has taken a stunner! So much of talk regarding his fitness and he has replied here with a ripper! Beauty of a delivery to begin with. Shaheen dishes out an outswinger on middle and off, it's on a good length and Taylor decides to defend it from the back foot. But the away movement means that the ball kisses the outside edge of his bat and Sarfaraz dives full length across to his right and takes a one-handed beauty. One of the best catches in this edition
12.3 : 12.3: S Afridi to Tom Latham, OUT! Shaheen strikes again and New Zealand are reduced to 46/4! This young fast bowler is oozing class at the moment. Delivers a length ball just around off and gets it to straighten a hint off the seam. Latham, without any footwork, feels for it inside the line and gets a faint edge behind. Sarfaraz takes a regulation catch this time and Pakistan continue to roar in this match.
21.4 : 21.4: W Riaz to K Williamson, EDGY FOUR! Almost a drag on for Kane. Wahab puts it on a length around off, Williamson is on the back foot trying to force it through the off side but it takes the inside edge and runs closely past the stumps to fine leg. The fielder in the deep tries his best but fails to cut it off.
26.2 : 26.2: S Khan to K Williamson, OUT! A magical delivery by Shadab to remove the best Kiwi batsman. You need something special to dismiss the batsman of his class. Lovely leg spinner. Perfectly executed. Right amount of flight, good drift into the batsman and then it spins away sharply to kiss the edge. Not much Williamson could have done there. He tries to play the trajectory of the delivery by prodding forward with a straight bat. But the away spin brings his downfall. Sarfaraz reacts quickly to
29.2: W Riaz to de Grandhomme, FOUR! This one is much better from the batsman. Wahab delivers it full and on middle, de Grandhomme brings down a straight blade and drives it off the inner half past the bowler. Good timing and it speeds away to the fence towards long on.
32.2: S Khan to J Neesham, SIX! First one off the game and it has come off the bat of Jimmy! Tossed up on middle. It is overpitched, Neesham takes full toll on it and smokes it over the long on fence.
32.5 : 32.5: S Khan to de Grandhomme, EDGED AND FOUR! Flighted around off, de Grandhomme looks to hit it through covers but gets a thick outside edge. The ball flies past first slip and through the third man for a boundary.
33.5: I Wasim to J Neesham, FOUR! Up and over! Tossed up around off, Neesham takes the risk and goes over cover. He gets enough bat on it and the ball goes over cover and to the fence for a boundary.
34.1 : 34.1: S Khan to de Grandhomme, SIX! De Grandhomme is done with the waiting game here. Short on middle and off, de Grandhomme gets on his back foot and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. There was no one in the deep there so not much of a risk.
35.4 : 35.4: M Amir to J Neesham, FOUR! Pulled and pulled hard! Back of a length ball on off, Neesham pulls it with power through deep mid-wicket for a boundary.
38.5 : 38.5: W Riaz to de Grandhomme, FOUR! Off the top edge! The game is seemingly going away from Pakistan. A short ball, around middle, de Grandhomme looks to pull but gets a top edge which goes over the keeper to the fine leg fence!
41.4 : 41.4: S Afridi to J Neesham, FOUR! Bad bowling. This is on the pads, Neesham flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
42.5 : 42.5: M Amir to de Grandhomme, FOUR! SMOKED! That was the line and length he was waiting for. Full and right in the slot, outside off, de Grandhomme lofts it over mid off. One bounce and into the fence.
44.5: M Amir to J Neesham, FOUR! Full on middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a boundary!
46.1 : 46.1: M Amir to J Neesham, SIX! SPANKED! This was in the slot again. Full and outside off, Neesham gets down on a knee and slog sweeps it massively over mid-wicket!
46.3 : 46.3: M Amir to de Grandhomme, FOUR! This is brute power. Every second ball is a slower one and both batsmen are picking the variation with ease. But what a hit. Full and outside off, de Grandhomme hammers it down the ground. Babar Azam has to move just 5 yards to his right but cannot get there! 200 UP FOR NEW ZEALAND! Can they get to 230 from here?
46.6 : 46.6: M Amir to de Grandhomme, FOUR! 18 from the over and this is now the most expensive one of the innings! Really poor bowling. Full and down the leg side, de Grandhomme flicks it through the vacant fine leg region!
47.1 : 47.1: W Riaz to J Neesham, FOUR! TAKE THAT! Good effort in the deep but this was hit with disdain. A short ball, around off, Neesham pulls it through mid-wicket. Two fielders converge. Zaman gets across from deep mid-wicket and dives, parrying the ball away. However, because Babar Azam from long on has gone past him, the ball goes past Azam and touches the fence!
47.4 : 47.4: W Riaz to de Grandhomme, OUT! De Grandhomme is indeed run out. Excellent fielding from Mohammad Amir. Another super slow ball, on a length, outside off, Colin waited for it and guided it towards third man. He thought he could steal the second and charged back. However, Amir charged in from fine leg, got to the ball and fired a rocket throw to his keeper cum skipper. Sarfaraz had to stretch a little but managed to gather and disturb the stumps. CdG was walking off but the umpire still refer
49.6 : 49.6: W Riaz to J Neesham, SIX! THRASH! What a way to end the innings! Neesham has given the Black Caps a realistic possibility of entering the semis today itself. A short ball, around off, Jimmy rocks back and pulls it over mid-wicket for a biggie! NEW ZEALAND FINISH ON 237/6!
0.6 : 0.6: T Boult to Imam, FOUR! The run chase is underway in style. Back of a length ball on off, Imam gets on his back foot and pulls it over mid-wicket to get off the mark with a boundary.
1.2 : 1.2: M Henry to F Zaman, FOUR! Fakhar is off the mark in style. Full toss around off, Fakhar says thank you very much and creams his drive through covers for a boundary.
1.5 : 1.5: M Henry to Imam, FOUR! Beautiful shot! Overpitched on off, Imam gets his front foot to the pitch of the line and drives it handsomely straight down the ground to the long off fence for a boundary.
2.1 : 2.1: T Boult to F Zaman, FOUR! Creamed! Fuller on off, Fakhar picks it up early and drives it through covers for a masterful boundary.
2.6 : 2.6: T Boult to F Zaman, OUT! The over started in Fakhar's favour but it ends in favour of Boult. Good length ball on the pads, it moves away from the batter. Fakhar looks to flick against the movement but ends up getting a big leading edge. The ball goes high in the air towards point. For a moment it looks like it will fall in no man's land but Guptill keeps his eye on the ball and takes a good catch running from second slip. Big blow this for Pakistan. Once again, Fakhar looks good and then th
4.2 : 4.2: T Boult to Imam, EDGE AND FOUR! Once again this ball moves away from Imam. It is on a length and just outside off, Imam looks to run it down but the ball goes off the outside edge and wide of first slip for a boundary.
8.2: T Boult to B Azam, FOUR! Glorious! The peach of a ball is followed by a handsome cover drive. Good length ball outside off, Babar drives it off the meat of the bat through covers for a boundary.
8.5 : 8.5: T Boult to B Azam, FOUR! Crunched! Good length ball with width on off, Babar strides his front foot out and drives it once again through covers for a boundary. Second boundary of the over.
10.2 : 10.2: L Ferguson to Imam, OUT! What a catch! Guptill is making up for his failure in the bat with some excellent fielding here. Ferguson hits the deck hard and bowls an effort ball. Imam hops and looks to keep it down but the ball rises onto him. It hits the top of his bat and lobs up towards the point region. Guptill runs in and takes a brilliant catch running forward. Second catch for Guptill in this game. Both the openers are back in the pavilion. Imam was also looking good but cannot make th
12.2: L Ferguson to M Hafeez, FOUR! Smart and confident shot this! Back of a length ball on off, Hafeez sees there is no one in the deep at square leg so he goes with the pull and fetches himself a boundary. 50 also comes up for Pakistan with that boundary. 188 more runs needed.
14.2: L Ferguson to M Hafeez, FOUR! Back of a length ball outside off. Hafeez was waiting for that ball. He stands tall and punches it through cover-point for a boundary.
14.4 : 14.4: L Ferguson to M Hafeez, FOUR! Calm and controlled pull! Short around the body, Hafeez keeps his pull down through square leg for a boundary.
15.6 : 15.6: de Grandhomme to M Hafeez, FOUR! Poor, poor ball this from de Grandhomme. Short and wide outside off, Hafeez cuts it wide of point and gets a well deserved boundary.
16.1 : 16.1: L Ferguson to B Azam, FOUR! This is all class! Good length ball outside off, Babar drives through point without any fuss for a boundary. Azam looks to be in the mood today.
18.6 : 18.6: J Neesham to B Azam, FOUR! Poor end to an otherwise tight over. Neesham is guilty of giving width outside off, Babar pounces on it and cuts it wide of diving point fielder for a boundary.
22.4 : 22.4: J Neesham to B Azam, FOUR! Pulled with venom! Back of a length ball on off. At Neesham's pace it is an easy picking for Babar. He pulls it with power through mid-wicket for a boundary.
22.6 : 22.6: J Neesham to M Hafeez, FOUR! End of an expensive Neesham over. 13 runs off the over. Fuller on off, Hafeez opens the face of the bat at the last moment and it goes fine down the third man region for a boundary.
24.5 : 24.5: K Williamson to M Hafeez, OUT! New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson has done the job not with the bat but with the ball here. Williamson tosses it up on off, Hafeez gets tempted looking at the flight. He comes down the track and looks to heave it over the mid-wicket fence. He does not time it well as the ball spins in at the last moment. It goes off the inner half of his bat straight to Lockie Ferguson at deep mid-wicket. He makes no mistake and the budding partnership comes to an end.
28.2 : 28.2: K Williamson to H Sohail, FOUR! Nicely played. With Williamson, a part-timer, you will get the odd drag-down. Short and outside off, Sohail goes back and runs it down past slip to third man!
29.4 : 29.4: M Santner to H Sohail, SIX! Up, up and away! That is the way to play a spinner. Full and outside off, Sohail comes down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and sends it sailing over long on!
35.2 : 35.2: C Munro to B Azam, FOUR! Smashed away! Munro offers width outside off, it's full in length and Babar strides forward before drilling it through the gap between extra cover and mid off.
36.2: K Williamson to B Azam, FOUR! Wonderful shot by Babar. He takes the calculative risk of coming down the track and then lofts the fuller length ball over mid off. No one in the deep and it's a boundary.
36.3 : 36.3: K Williamson to B Azam, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries. Brilliant batting from Babar. Last shot prompted the bowler to go short, Azam picks it early, again uses his feet, this time to go deep inside the crease and then pulls it handsomely behind square leg. 50-run stand comes up as well and Pakistan are motoring in this run chase.
37.4 : 37.4: T Boult to H Sohail, SIX! Straight over the bowler's head, no respect whatsoever. Boult lands it on a fuller length outside off, Sohail stays leg side of this delivery and hammers it over Boult for a biggie.
38.6 : 38.6: K Williamson to H Sohail, FOUR! A good over till now gets spoiled. A flighted delivery on off, too full in length, Haris leans into the drive and thumps it through the gap at covers for a boundary. 34 in the last 4 overs!
40.6: T Boult to H Sohail, FOUR! Deft! Boult offers width outside off, Sohail spots that and deliberately delays his shot. He opens the face at the last moment and runs it fine down to third man for a boundary. Smooth sailing for Pakistan, under 50 required now.
41.1 : 41.1: M Santner to B Azam, FOUR! Fine shot! Santner delivers a full ball around off, Babar goes down on one knee and plays a well-timed slog sweep. Finds the gap and also finds the fence at mid-wicket.
41.2 : 41.2: M Santner to B Azam, FOUR! Babar wants to finish it in a hurry! Once again he kneels to a full ball and sweeps it against the spin. Gets it away from the middle of his blade and the ball screams away to the fence at mid-wicket.
44.6 : 44.6: T Boult to H Sohail, FOUR! Easily done! A length delivery outside off, Haris knows that mid off is inside the circle and hence chips it over the head of the in-ring fielder for a boundary. 8 from the over, 23 more needed in the last 5 overs.
45.6: L Ferguson to B Azam, FOUR! Moves to 99 with this boundary! Ferguson tries to test the right-hander with a short ball, Babar rides the bounce and plays a hammer-pull to deep mid-wicket. 9 from the over, Pakistan 14 away!
47.1 : 47.1: L Ferguson to H Sohail, FOUR! Beautiful timing and placement! Back of a length delivery outside off, Haris crunches it off his back foot and places it through backward point. The third man fielder tries to run across to make the stop but he slipped.
48.3 : 48.3: M Henry to B Azam, OUT! What an anti-climax! Haris Sohail is run out. A yorker on off, Babar digs it out near the stumps and looks at his partner who shows interest in a run. Azam stutters a bit but Sohail puts his head down and runs. Guptill, in the meantime, also charges to the ball, dives forward to pick it up and then disturbs the stumps. All in one motion. It's referred upstairs and Haris is found short. End of a fine knock nonetheless and his century stand with Babar completely spoil
49.1 : 49.1: L Ferguson to S Ahmed, FOUR! PAKISTAN WIN BY 6 WICKETS! Full toss outside off, Sarfaraz gets bat on ball and puts it away through the gap between cover-point and point for the winning runs.
