0.0 : Hello and welcome to the first of 3 ODI match series between New Zealand and Bangladesh. The hosts come into this ODI series after a 4-1 loss at home against India. This is the final 3 ODI matches for the Kiwi before the World Cup and they would look to get their combination right and like to head into the tournament in the summer with a series win. Coming to the visitors, This is their first tournament of the Year and they come into this one with an ODI series win over Windies at home. They wo
PITCH REPORT - Mark Richardson says it looks like a batting paradise. States the groundsman has verti-cut the grass. Explains verti-cut leaves only the leaves away. States it is a rock hard surface and the batsmen will enjoy it. Ends by saying he expects a good game of cricket to start the ODI series.
Toss - Mashrafe Mortaza calls heads and heads it is. He has opted to bat first.
Mashrafe Mortaza says it looks like a good wicket to bat first. On the series win against Windies, the skipper says it was a great series and they did well in all departments. Says they are playing about 2-3 spinners in the game.
Kane Williamson says he also would have opted to bat first. Whether he feels the pitch is different than the game against India, Williamson feels it is as there is less grass. Feels it could have been rolled a little bit. On the team news, he says Tim Southee and Todd Astle miss out.
Time for the National Anthems. Bangladesh's one first.
The anthems are done and dusted and we are all set to begin. Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das walk out to the middle to open the innings for Bangladesh. Matt Henry will bowl the first over for New Zealand with the first new ball.
0.1 : M Henry to T Iqbal, FOUR! Poor delivery to start the innings. Henry starts with a length delivery on the pads, Iqbal has no problem facing that. He just flicks it away deftly towards fine leg for a boundary.
0.2 : M Henry to T Iqbal, Better from Henry. Good length delivery outside off, Tamim keep his bat on the off stump as the ball goes away to the keeper. Henry looks a bit uncomfortable out in the middle and it looks like it is his hamstring.
Oops... Henry is still not looking comfortable. Pulls out halfway through his runup.
0.3 : M Henry to T Iqbal, Back of a length delivery on middle, Iqbal defends it from his crease.
0.4 : M Henry to T Iqbal, Length delivery outside off, Tamim guides it to third man and takes a single.
0.5 : M Henry to L Das, First ball to Liton and Henry bowls it on a length. Das starts his innings carefully with a back foot defense.
0.6 : M Henry to L Das, On a length, Liton keeps it out with another defense.
Trent Boult to bowl with the second new ball.
1.1 : T Boult to T Iqbal, Hint of away swing straight away for Boult. The ball is pitched outside off and the ball goes away to the keeper as Iqbal leaves it away.
1.2 : T Boult to T Iqbal, OUT!!! What a ripper! Pitching on middle and leg, the ball initially looks like it is coming in but then straightens. Iqbal tries to flick it but then gets squared up. The ball tickles off his outside edge and it goes straight to the keeper. Tom Latham behind the stumps takes an easy catch and a big blow for Bangladesh. Their best batsman is back in the pavillion.
Soumya Sarkar walks out at number 3.
1.3 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Great ball to welcome Sarkar in the crease. Yorker on middle, Soumya does well to get his bat down in time and keep it out.
1.4 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Length delivery on the stumps, Soumya defends it off hsi front foot with a straight bat.
1.5 : T Boult to S Sarkar, FOUR!!! Great way to get off the mark. Shorter in length by Boult, Soumya picks the length early and rocks onto his back foot. He pulls it away hard through square leg for a boundary.
1.6 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Better from Boult. Good length delivery outside off, Sarkar tries to push it away to the off side but misses. Good over from Boult four runs and a wicket.
2.1 : M Henry to L Das, LBW appeal, turned down. Full and down the leg side, a bit too straight, Das misses his flick and is hit on the pads. Perhaps going down.
2.2 : M Henry to L Das, Outside off, on a length, Liton feels for it but misses.
2.3 : M Henry to L Das, On a good length this time, LD gets right behind it and blocks it out.
2.4 : M Henry to L Das, Ahh.... full and straight, LD somehow gets his bat down in time. That was heading straight for the stumps and was plumb LBW. Now, it rolls off the inside edge towards fine leg and the batsmen take a single.
2.5 : M Henry to S Sarkar, Full again, in line of the sticks, pushed back to the bowler.
2.6 : M Henry to S Sarkar, FOUR! SLAM! Too short and too wide, outside off, Soumya crashes this through the covers. No point chasing those. Spoils what would have been a terrific over.
3.1 : T Boult to L Das, Another LBW appeal. Turned down again. Williamson looks at his bowler for the review. He indicates that it is too high. Hot Spot indicates a mark though, meaning an inside edge. The ball was pitched around leg and came back in. Das missed his flick and the ball went off his thigh pads towards third man. A single taken, leg bye signalled.
3.2 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Full on middle, flicked through mid-wicket where a half stop parries the ball towards mid on.
3.3 : T Boult to S Sarkar, FOUR! MAJESTIC! Full and outside off, Sarkar leans and drives it with the outswing through the covers!
3.4 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Good length delivery, the ball hurries onto Soumya. He does well to keep it out.
3.5 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Back of a length delivery on middle and leg, Sarkar defends it.
3.6 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Once again Boult gets good swing. Full and it is shaping away from the southpaw. Soumya flicks it away to mid on.
4.1 : M Henry to L Das, OUT! Cleaned him up! Bangladesh lose two quickly. Both openers dismissed to both the opening bowlers. On a good length outside off, going away, Das looks to defend but like the Tamim dismissal, here too, the batsman is squared up. Misses his defense and the ball hits the top of off.
0.0 : Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man in.
4.2 : M Henry to M Rahim, Full and straight, pushed towards mid on.
4.3 : M Henry to M Rahim, Landed outside off, left alone.
4.4 : M Henry to M Rahim, Around off, on a good length, watchfully blocked out.
4.5 : M Henry to M Rahim, Fuller and around off, watchfully blocked out.
4.6 : M Henry to M Rahim, Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
5.1 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Full and a hint of away swing. Soumya hits it to the fielder at mid off.
5.2 : T Boult to S Sarkar, FOUR!! Too full this time by Boult asking to be punished. It is pitched on middle and leg. Sarkar flicks it uppishly over square leg for a boundary.
5.3 : T Boult to S Sarkar, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries! Banged in short, outside leg, Sarkar swivels and pulls it over fine leg!
5.4 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Full and outside off, driven through the covers for a couple.
5.5 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Goes back in his crease and blocks.
A review taken! Where was the impact? Was there bat? Latham reckons Sarkar is plumb LBW. Let's see...
5.6 : T Boult to S Sarkar, MASSIVE INSIDE EDGE! The Kiwis lose their sole review. A lovely delivery from Boult, full and around off, swinging in a long way, Soumya looks to flick but misses and is hit on the pads. To the naked eye, it looks pretty straight and plumb in front. But umpire Ravi looks very calm and then shakes his head. Williamson asks his bowler and then his keeper and eventually, signals for the 'T'. Replays straightaway indicate bat and Snickometer confirms.
6.1 : M Henry to M Rahim, Full on middle and leg, Rahim flicks it towards mid-wicket. Guptill there fives to his left and saves runs for his side.
6.2 : M Henry to M Rahim, Good length delivery outside off, Rahim cuts it to point and takes a single.
6.3 : M Henry to S Sarkar, SIX!!! Wow what a shot. Good length delivery on off, Soumya rocks onto his back foot and heaves it over mid-wicket for a maximum. The sound it made after connection was just so crisp.
6.4 : M Henry to S Sarkar, Full and around off, pushed towards mid off for a quick single.
6.5 : M Henry to M Rahim, Good length delivery on the stumps, Rahim defends it.
6.6 : M Henry to M Rahim, FOUR!!! Rahim taking the charge. Length delivery outside off, Rahim comes down the track and hits it through the vacant mid off region for a boundary.
7.1 : T Boult to S Sarkar, Good length delivery outside off, Sarkar looks to play it on the off side with a horizontal bat but gets an inside edge. Luckily for him it does not chop onto his stumps and goes to the on side for a single.
7.2 : T Boult to M Rahim, OUCH! A brilliant bouncer from Boult. It rises onto Rahim. He looks to play it at first but then looks to get out. The ball hits him on his helmet and lobs to the fielder at cover. There is a stifled appeal but the umpire turns it down.
A bit of a delay here and rightly too. All the Kiwis are around Rahim, checking on his well-being and the physio is out in the middle. He looks shaken a bit, taking a few gulps of water. Hope everything is fine.
7.3 : T Boult to M Rahim, Another short one. This time Rahim ducks underneath it.
7.4 : T Boult to M Rahim, Good length delivery outside off, Rahim leaves it alone.
7.5 : T Boult to M Rahim, On a length once again, Rahim blocks it out with a straight bat.
7.6 : T Boult to M Rahim, OUT! Chops it on! Bangladesh are three down in Powerplay 1. Lack of footwork from Rahim. Clearly, the hit on the head has shaken him. On a good length, outside off, Rahim looks to punch it through the off side but does not move his feet. Is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and as a result, just drags it back onto the stumps.
Mohammad Mithun walks in at number 5, replacing Rahim.
8.1 : M Henry to S Sarkar, Full and around off, driven straight to cover.
8.2 : M Henry to S Sarkar, OUT! And then there were four! Boy o boy o boy. New Zealand are all over Bangladesh like a rash. A short ball now, Soumya instinctively goes for the pull but the bounce does him in. Gets a top edge which goes straight up in the air. The ball has gone nowhere and Henry gets forward and takes it comfortably. Bangladesh are a sorry 43/4...
Mohammad Mahmudullah is the next man in.

9.2 : T Boult to Mahmudullah, A bouncer now, around middle, Mahmudullah ducks.
9.3 : T Boult to Mahmudullah, Full and straight, Mahmadullah defends it with soft hands and takes a quick single as the ball goes to the wide of mid off on the right.
9.4 : T Boult to M Mithun, On a good length outside off, shoulderd arms to.
9.5 : T Boult to M Mithun, One more LBW shout. Prodigious swing from Boult. Very full, around middle, Mithun falls over in his attempt to flick. Is hit on the pads and up goes Boult. But the appeal is turned down. Probably missing leg again.
9.6 : T Boult to M Mithun, FOUR!! Full toss on the pads, Mithun flicks it fine towards the fine leg region and the ball goes away to the fence. Easy pickings this for Mithun. That ends Powerplay 1. 50/4. Do we need to say who is on top?

Caught behind! Or not? Mahmudullah has been given out but he straight away goes upstairs. He is very confident he has not hit it his bat.
11.5 : T Boult to Mahmudullah, NOT OUT! It is the shoulder! A good ball though. A short one, around middle, Mahmudullah looked to defend but the ball keeps on rising with the bounce. He looks to keep it out but the ball hits something and then deviates to the keeper. New Zealand appeal and umpire Ravi immediately gives it out. Mahmudullah though, does not waste even a second in reviewing it. Replays show us that the ball has missed the gloves and the bat and it has hit the shoulder. Hot Spot and

The start was excellent for the Kiwis. They blew the top and middle order away, taking 4 wickets inside Powerplay 1. Trent Boult and Matt Henry were the chief destroyers but then the tourists managed to battle it out and forge a partnership. Mohammad Mithun kept the innings going at one end and got a couple of good partners in Mehidy Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin.
After the initial havoc, Santner was the one who kept Bangladesh quiet in the middle overs, finishing with 3 scalps. Boult ended with 3 while Ferguson was pacy. The Kiwis will back themselves to gun down 232 but a few days ago, batting first against India, they had folded up for 157 at this very venue - with Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal snaring 6 wickets. The previous half century stand for them came against Pakistan in Wellington, on January 19, 2018. Guptill and Munro were the ones involved. Full and around off, Henry pushes it towards mid off and sets off for a quick single. The fielder comes charging in and looks to pick up and throw but slips. 12.6 : M Mortaza to M Guptill, Around off, solidly defended.
Mohammad Saifuddin back into the attack.
13.1 : M Saifuddin to H Nicholls, Chance of a run out, missed! Saifuddin begins a new spell with a length ball on middle, Nicholls helps it off his pads through mid-wicket and runs the first run hard. 13.2 : M Saifuddin to H Nicholls, Tickles it softly in the gap on the leg side and rotates the strike.

13.4 : M Saifuddin to M Guptill, Another drive from Guptill, this time through the gap at covers for a run.
13.5 : M Saifuddin to H Nicholls, FOUR! Another boundary in the over. Saifuddin continues to be too full in his length. It's outside off and Nicholls drills his drive past the diving mid off fielder.

Drinks break. Slow going from the Kiwis and there is no real rush anyway. They are just keeping up with the required rate as both the openers are shying away from taking any unnecessary risks. Bangladesh's bowling hasn't looked threatening at all. Not sure from where the first breakthrough will come for them. 165 needed more. Seems like a one-way traffic from here unless something miraculous happens.

Hang on, the Hot Spot detects a tiny edge. So technically it's a dropped catch. And more... the replays find that Guptill had left the crease while attempting his shot and had Rahim collected the all, there would have been a stumping opportunity as well. After all that drama, Bangladesh still remain wicke

A comprehensive win for the Black Caps. They never looked under any kind of pressure during the run chase and overhauled the target without any fuss. Martin Guptill stood there like a rock and stroked a fluent century and his opening partnership with Henry Nicholls set the early tone. Bangladesh's bowling, like their batting, was listless. They did manage to pick a couple of wickets in the middle overs but failed to create any hindrance in the home side's path to victory.
Earlier in the day, the tourists lost their top 6 under 100 and in spite of late recovery, managed only a below-par total. They would have hoped that their bowlers will make amends but that never really happened. A big loss for them in the series opener and now they will have to bounce back from this disappointing show to stay alive in the series.

States that he is happy to get runs under the belt and on batting with Ross Taylor, Guptill smiles and says that he keeps talking to him.
Bangladesh's skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza says that it was tough for them. Admits that they lost too many wickets early. Adds that they cannot make any excuses and they have to adjust to the conditions. Hopes to give their best in the next matches. Emphasizes that batting is a concern and feels that they weren't too bad with the ball this evening.
New Zealand's skipper, Kane Williamson rates this as a very good performance. Says that the bowlers set the tone and then the batters did the job efficiently. Praises Guptill for his knock. Adds that there was a mark importance in their fielding from the last series and hopes to keep up with the good work. Mentions that they just want to executive their roles and it's important to back it up. He is expecting a big crowd in the next game and is not taking Bangladesh lightly as they can bounce bac
