Deepak Chahar to bowl the final over.
Excellent comeback from the Men in Yellow and it is they who enter the break with the momentum on their side. At one point it looked like they would be chasing a total in excess of 180 but their bowlers managed to find their rhythm at the right time of the innings and have managed to restrict the defending champions to an average score of 162!
A very good bowlng performance from Chennai.. They started off poorly but their bowlers started to find their groove towards the crucial end of the innings.  The likes of Ngidi, Deepak Chahar and Jadeja started off on a very expensive note but managed to pull things back with wickets. New recruits, Sam Curran and Piyush Chawla were very good with the ball finishing with one wicket a piece with the eg spinner conceeding less than 6 rpo. Ngidi finished with 3 while Deepak and Jadeja managed
Mumbai, after being put into bat, got off to a very good start as Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma got off the blocks quickly. Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary looked steady with their 42-run stand and it looked like they were setting the platform for their big hitters in Hardik, Pollard and Krunal but the trio were unable to get a move along and the defending champions choked from 121/3 at the end of the 14th over to finish for 162/9 from their 20. The Men in Blue just could not get the fire
So 163 is the target for Chennai to kick off the new season with a win. Do not count out Mumbai as they have a nack of defending totals they are not expected to. They have a good bowling attack and will have to be at their best. Can they do the unexpected again and defend another lowish score? Join us after the break for the chase to find out.

Chasing 163, Chennai got off to a disastrous start as they lost both their openers Watson and Murali Vijay early on. Ambati Rayudu though was in scintilating form. He took the charge in this chase while Faf du Plessis played the anchor role in their 115-run stand. Ambati's 71, Faf's unbeaten 58 and Sam Curran's 6-ball 18 was enough for Chennai to get over the line.

So that is it from the opening game of this season's Indian T20 League. The defending champions have been humbled in the opener. Mumbai will look to comeback stronger in their next game. In Match No.2, Delhi take on Punjab in what promises to be an exciting contest. That game begins at 1800 local (1400 GMT). We hope to see you for that one. Till then, cheers!
Earlier in the day, after putting Mumbai to bat, Chennai did not get off to a good start as Quinton de Kock got off the blocks quickly but the Chennai bowlers managed to pull things back and choked the Mumbai batters towards the death. They restricted the run flow and kept chipping wickets at crucial intervals which saw them restrict Mumbai to 162. Ngidi came back stronger and his 3-wickets along with 2 wickets each from Jadeja and Chahar set up the win for Chennai.
Rohit Sharma, Mumbai skipper, says none of their batsmen carried on and Rayudu took the game away from them. Adds they were 15-20 runs short and the batsmen should have played better.
