0.0 : ... MATCH DAY ...
Hello folks! Welcome to game number 2 of the much-anticipated T20 World Cup! It is the clash in Group B where Bangladesh will face Scotland. Both these teams would be playing their first game of the competition and they will be eager to start on a winning note, thereby staying ahead in the race for the Super 12 stage.
Bangladesh would be high on confidence coming into the tournament as they have won a couple of T20I series against a very good Australian and New Zealand side. They have a nice blend of youth and experience in the form of Mahedi Hasan, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. They are led by an experienced player in the form of Mahmudullah and the Bangla Tigers would certainly start as favorites in this qualifying stage.
Scotland too, have had a good ride so far in this tournament as they won their warm-up fixtures against Netherlands and Namibia, but now they have a tough ask in front of them when they will lock horns with Bangladesh in their very first league game. They have some quality players in the form of Matthew Cross, Richie Berrington and their skipper, Kyle Coetzer and this Scotland team do have the potential to fight hard and hand Bangladesh a defeat. Will they be able to do so? We shall find that so
So, it is Oman who won the first game of the T20 World Cup! Quite a one-sided affair. They proved to be way too strong for PNG. After electing to bowl, they restricted PNG to a very low score and they made a mockery of the chase. A morale boosting win.
Toss - Both the captains are out in the middle for the coin toss. Up goes the coin and lands in favor of Bangladesh. They will BOWL first!
Scotland (Playing XI) - Kyle Coetzer (C), George Munsey, Matthew Cross (WK), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Josh Davey, Safyaan Sharif, Brad Wheal.
Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.
Kyle Coetzer, the skipper of Scotland, says putting runs on the board will put pressure on the team batting second. Adds that they have pretty much everything covered as far as the balance of the side is concerned and it is about executing the plans now.
Mahmudullah, the skipper of Bangladesh, says it looks a good wicket and there should be plenty of runs in it and he wants to chase it down. Adds they are looking forward to the game. Mentions they want to play good cricket and hope they come out on the winning side. Informs they have got three all-rounders and two seamers.
Pitch Report - Murali Karthik says it is the same pitch as the first game. Anjum Chopra says 165 should be a good score. Adds that there is a sheen on it and there should be dew and hence, the skipper wanted to bowl. Adds the seamers might do the trick but spinners will also have a role to play. Ends by saying around 170 would be what teams could target to score.

Mustafizur Rahman to Safyaan Sharif, Full ball, around off. Safyaan Sharif drags it to wide of long on and scampers back for the second run. Scotland finish with 140/9.
Scotland have one man to thank and that is Greaves. However, the start was not all that bad for them, they did lose their skipper early but Munsey took them to safer shores. Once the right-hander fell, the procession began. They slipped to 53 for 6 from 45 for 1. Then though came the fightback, Greaves and Watt batted really well and recorded the highest 7th wicket stand for their country. Watt fell but Greaves continued. He was unlucky to not get to a well-deserved half ton but is the sole rea
Bangladesh bowled really well but will be very disappointed with letting Scotland off the hook. The pacers did a decent job in the Powerplay and then the spinners wreaked havoc. Hasan and Shakib had combined figures of 8-0-36-5. However, the second half was not that great for them as they let the Scotland lower order score close to 90 runs.
Chris Greaves is down for a chat. He says that he enjoyed that knock and it was an important partnership. Adds that it feels nice to contribute in a stand like that with Watt. Says that there is a bit of purchase for the spinners here and he is looking forward to contributing with that too.
The target is not a big one but Scotland probably have momentum on their side. They though will need wickets early on, if they do not manage to get a few, Bangladesh have a lot of quality to make a mockery of this chase. Stay tuned for the second half in a bit.
