Australia beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets
AUS 78/2 (6.2)
Match over
0.0 : Australia have been quite decent so far in the competition. They got two wins to start things off but the recent beating they took at the hands of England, has been a setback for them. Given how South Africa won their last game against Bangladesh, the Aussies would now be feeling the heat a bit. They would want to win this game by a big margin to not only get 2 points but to also help their NRR. It will be interesting to see if Mitchell Marsh comes back in the side as he missed their last game.

Dale Steyn says that the Aussies batters would be happy with this pitch as they look to get a big win here.
... MATCH DAY ...
Bangladesh came into the competition after beating Australia and New Zealand in T20I series back home. But they soon received a reality check when Scotland got better of them in their first clash. They recovered and got through to the Super 12s but inconsistency has haunted them here. They have also dropped a lot of catches, which is not desirable in this format of the game. Now, they are out of contention to make it to the semi-finals and would want to play fearless cricket. Will Bangla Tigers

Drinks break. Well, this has been a dream start for Australia. Taking 5 wickets in the first 10 overs is no small feat. ... THE RUN CHASE ...
Bangladeshi batters failed to impress yet again. This side looks like it clearly misses the services of Shakib Al Hasan. This was their second game without him, and they were in all kinds of trouble. Bangladesh lost three wickets in the first three overs and right at the beginning, they lost the momentum. Mohammad Naim, Mahmudullah and Shamim Hossain were the only batters to get some sort of start but could not make the most of it. While the rest of the batters were very disappointing. Yet a
The Australian bowlers were on song. They never let the batters settle in. Adam Zampa was the star with the ball for Australia. He picked up a 5-for and made sure to end things quickly. But this wouldn't have been possible without the early destruction provided by Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Glenn Maxwell in the first three overs of the innings. Pat Cummins was good with the ball but could not find any success. Overall, the Aussies bowlers have provided their batters with the perfect
Right then. The Australian bowlers have done their job exceedingly well. They would hope their batters come out and chase down this target as soon as possible. The Bangladeshi bowlers do not have much to defend but they will surely try to keep things tight. Do join us for the second essay.

This has been an extremely dominant performance from Australia and they are back to winning ways after suffering a thumping defeat against England. To add to this, Australia also go above South Africa in the points table, courtesy of better NRR and they will be extremely pleased with this result. Bangladesh, however, will take their flight back home as they stay winless at the end of their Super 12 stage.
Bangladesh's bowlers had only 73 runs to play with and the intent with which the Aussie openers came in to bat made things even more difficult for them. Mustafizur Rahman was taken to the cleaners and it was only Taskin Ahmed who troubled the Aussie openers a bit. He did get rid of Aaron Finch but the damage had already been done. Shoriful Islam came in late to bowl and sent back Warner.
Earlier in the day, Australia bundled out Bangladesh for just 73, courtesy of some exceptional bowling performance and they chased it down with utmost ease to stay in the semi-final race. They now move above South Africa in the points table and it was just the kind of game Aaron Finch and his men were hoping for going ahead in this competition.
Adam Zampa is the Player of the Match. He says it been a while he has been playing cricket for Australia and the five-wicket haul has always eluded him, but he is glad to achieve it finally. Also, says Wade has been really good during the whole tournament and has helped him a lot with wickets. Adds he is upset about missing out on the Hat Trick but is very happy about the win above anything.

They got off to a flier and both of them fell when they were only few runs behind the target. Mitchell Marsh came in at number 3 and he smashed it to all parts of the ground. In the end, Australia won the game by 8 wickets, and most import
The Bangladesh skipper, Mahmudullah, says it is difficult to comment after such performances. Mentions that they have a lot of things to work on especially the batting. They will have a chat back home about the same. Adds that it is the Powerplay that is crucial in T20 matches but they did not make the most of it in their campaign. Goes on to say that in the Super 12 they got close against Sri Lanka and West Indies, while in the remaining games they were outplayed by the oppositions. Ends by
Aaron Finch, the skipper of Australia, says that it was a clinical performance and credits the bowlers for the way they started things off. Adds that the coaches did have a conversation about NRR before the game but the players concentrated on the game. Informs that they were aware at the halfway mark of what they needed to do to go over South Africa in terms of NRR. Says that the break after the game against England was a good one and it is good to be back to winning ways.
