St Peter's Square witnessed a Grand Mass for the sick and the disabled on June 12.

Pope Francis held a Grand Mass for the Jubilee for the Sick and Persons with Disabilities at St Peter's Square on Sunday at 10:30 am.

This day is dedicated to the sick and disabled. About 20,000 people with disabilities were expected to turn up at the Mass.

The Mass included songs and testimonies by disabled persons. According to Catholic News Agency, the Gospel was read and dramatised for the first time by a group of disabled people. Each of the readings at the Mass was translated into International Sign Language for the deaf pilgrims.

Pope Francis, who is known for his benevolence and his work for the physically and mentally challenged, will be devoting a lot of time towards the betterment of the afflicted.
