India v/s Australia 3rd ODI Match Commentary: Maxwell magic takes Australia to series win

So that's it for India in this series. The next two games will be for salvaging pride. 0-3 down and all three games have followed a similar format - India put up a decent score that could have been better, and Australia chase it down with about an over left. Today, India just challenged the Aussie batting more in the middle overs. But some sloppy fielding and wayward bowling have cost India the game and series.

Over 49

Yadav in his last over.

Short, Maxwell backs away and tries to go over mid off, but doesn't get the elevation.

SIX. Right in the slot for Maxwell, short of a full length, and Maxwell gets well under it, slams it over long on for four.

FOUR. Now he goes over backward point, four more. Maxwell gets to 96 and Australia need one more to win.

OUT! He's gone, he went for glory. Another short ball by Yadav, Maxwell tries to clear the MCG this time. He gets a big top edge, the ball comes down at Dhawan at mid off. Out for 96, but too late for India.

Oh, a mix up in the middle, Jadeja runs to short leg, picks up and throws hard, misses the stumps.

OUT! Is that stumped out? Yes, Dhoni is right! Jadeja deceived Bailey in the flight, the latter played forward and was beaten. Dhoni clipped off the bails in a trice and was running towards his players even before Bailey could react properly. The umpire sees that Dhoni is certain, he calls upstairs, and replays show Bailey's back foot is just outside the crease. 3 down for 150.

Change of pace, even slower than slow medium. Defending to mid off.

Wide and full, behind point for two. Again the lack of consistency comes into focus.

Wasim Akram is irate in the commentary box, at the inconsistency of Indian bowlers. A lot of pent up heat coming out.

India did somewhat better in their final 15 overs today, but not well enough. Nevertheless, this is a more difficult wicket to bat on, and 295 would be more like 320 in Brisbane. Remember, India got 307 there.

The last ball of the previous over was hit for a big six by Kohli.

OUT! Rahane is gone. Hastings' lack of pace has done the trick. After scoring 50, Rahane rushes down the track, Hastings goes short, Rahane gets it high on the bat and a good catch on the fence. The fielder was comfortably placed, yet he relayed the catch back and went over the fence.

MS Dhoni is the new batsman, comes out to a huge ovation.

Down the track, pulled away hard through midwicket, but not with great power. The fielder at a longish midwicket though, misfields. And the fielder backing him up can't do enough despite the dive to prevent four.

JUST SHORT. Could have been curtains for Dhawan. Short ball bouncer, chest high, Dhawan pulls, gets a top edge and the ball lands just away from the hands of a diving short square leg that was running outward.

Dhawan cuts hard for two after Kohli drives for three in the deep. The partnership is slowly finding its feet.
