Ricky Ponting’s decline has started

Australia are unlikely to win the World Cup for a record fourth time next year if Ricky Ponting were to be their captain. Australia’s chances will be bright under a different captain. If Ponting gets injured and is ruled out of the World Cup, then Australia’s chances go up dramatically. His decline has already begun.

If he leads the team to the World Cup, he will step down from captaincy after a likely debacle. He would continue as a batsman for a year, after which, his form will desert him and the Tasmanian would retire gracefully as one of the greatest batsmen and captains ever.

Ponting has seen more major victories than many of his compatriots and contemporaries. He has been a part of a record three World Cup victories, two of them as captain. This is simply because he has an absolutely strong Jupiter placed in his 11th house, the house of benefits and victories. He was also running through Jupiter Dasa from 1994 to 2009. This period saw him ascend one peak after another. This period also saw him being victorious in major tournaments.

Currently Ponting is going through the worst phase of his career. His Saturn Dasa started in January 2010 and, along with antardasa, it will last till the end of 2012. This means, all will not be good for the Australia skipper for a couple of years. Shani would induce further setbacks on Ponting, as a captain and player. He would retire from all forms of cricket, probably before the end of 2012.
