Indian selectors announced the 15-man squad for the 2015 ICC World Cup which begins on February 14. Notably, Yuvraj Singh failed to find a place in the 15, meaning the hero of India's 2011 World Cup win will not even fly to Australia this time. The exclusion did not go down well with Yuvraj's fans on social media, who let loose their emotions on Twitter.
A handle called 'Yuvi's United FC!' reminded the selectors of the batsman's feats in the 2011 World Cup:
The man who didnt care for his health played WC and won it for India! And in return this how u treat him! Yuvi <3
— Yuvi's United FC! (@yuvinator12) January 6, 2015
Sunil Kapoor went so far as to call for a boycott of the mega event:
No Yuvi in worldcup squad? Selectors or Jokers?? #Boycott WorldCup

Sahil understands Yuvraj's emotions:
I saw the video of Yuvi going inside hotel without talking to the media today evening in Jaipur, He was heartbroken:( My Bhai @YUVSTRONG12
— Sahil Jarewal (@YuviSRKDevotee) January 6, 2015
Dipak Kharche is looking at the entertainment angle:
This WC will be a boring one coz there is no entertainer in this wc like u yuvi...peoples will miss u..
— Dipak Kharche (@KharcheDipak) January 6, 2015
Is he still stuck in 2011?:
#WC2015 Y no Yuvi....... if India like to retain the trophy YUYUVI must....

This user wants VVS Laxman to offer an explanation:
@VVSLaxman281 sir eagerly waiting for ur rply Tell me the frank opinion abt the selection,Y yuvi rejected while he is in Form? @YUVSTRONG12

Vipin may be another fan who has failed to move on from 2011:
Without yuvi there is less & less % of wining cricket world cup ! Thanks selectors : : :
— VIPIN (@buntybhaiya) January 6, 2015
Some users like this one have declared that India cannot win the World Cup now:
@BCCI shame on u guys for leaving out #yuvi ..u will shamefully lose wc
— shajan deepu (@ShajanDeepu) January 6, 2015
Yuvraj's exclusion also brought out some hatred for Stuart Binny, whose father is a selector and who has found a place in the 15. Perhaps Vishal Singhal has forgotten that Binny has a wife - Mayanti Langer:
Behind every successful man is his wife, but behind Stuart Binny is his father selector Roger Binny #WC2015 Unlucky Yuvi, Uthapa #cricket
— Vishal Singhal (@vishysinghal) January 6, 2015
Kapadia minces no words in declaring that Binny got in only due to his father:
Yuvi, Sehwag: Humaare pass WC ka experience hain, domestic form hain, fans hain tumhare paas kya hain? Stuart Binny: Mere baap selector hain
— Jatin Kapadia (@jatinkapadia) January 6, 2015
Akeep thinks even Binny would be flummoxed:
Stuart Binny's Selection shows how bad management in BCCI is. Even @Stuart__Binny is laughin at himself. Oh, am i laughing at myself? #Yuvi
— Akeep (@akeep22) January 6, 2015
Shafeeq directly accuses Roger Binny of playing politics in selection:
I don't know what logic bring stuart binny ahead of Yuvi. Roger Binny should stop family politics in cricket #hatebcci #bringbackyuvi
— Shafeeq (@ImShafeeQ) January 6, 2015
The above tweets are just a microcosm of the outrage on social media following Yuvraj Singh's exclusion from the World Cup squad. Yuvi was trending at No 9 in India, but it has to be noted that Stuart Binny was trending at No 1, and most of the tweets were negative. Perhaps it is only because of Yuvraj's fitness issues that the selectors have not considered him. But the decision might surely have driven a few fans away from watching the World Cup.
