Satire: Yograj Singh blasts MS Dhoni for his IPL showing; hails Yuvraj for consistency

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In fact, over the years he has been one of the pillars of the successful franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But in this season, his batting hasn’t really inspired confidence. He has managed 276 runs from 12 matches and though he averages 34.50, his number are boosted by the fact that he has four not outs. On Sunday, he promoted Pawan Negi ahead of him.

Dhoni’s indifferent form has again drawn criticism from former Indian cricketer and Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh. Speaking to the writer, Yograj said, “Look at his scores, he has been so inconsistent. His last 10 innings read: 13 not out, 39 not out, 29, 20, 1, 3, 41 not out, 13, 31 not out and 3! How can the team bank on a batsman who has been so inconsistent? One match he scores 3 and then a 41, look at the disparity!”

Yograj continued his tirade: “Ravindra Jadeja is worthless. Yuvi [Yuvraj] never got a long run like him and now when he picks up four wickets, Dhoni will take credit for it. Dhoni is a terrible man. He is a Ravaan and Jadeja is his Surpanaka! It’s safe to assume that Dhoni had lost faith in Jadeja and also promoted Pawan Negi. He can do whatever he wants to keep Yuvi out, but Yuvraj sabka baap hai!”

Yuvraj, who was bought for Rs 16 crores by Delhi Daredevils, has had a poor run in this IPL, managing just 204 runs from 11 innings. When Yograj was reminded of Yuvraj’s poor show so far, the former was quick to defend his son: “So what? Yuvi is still more consistent. Don’t you get it? Look at the disparity in Dhoni’s scores and look how consistent my son has been. In his last 10 innings, he has four single digit scores and one duck, in fact he has got three scores of 2. Consistency is the other name of the game and Yuvi has done much better than Dhoni in that aspect.”

He signed off cursing Dhoni yet again as he said, “Chennai isn’t far from Lanka. Like Ravana’s, Dhoni’s Lanka will burn too if he doesn’t mends his ways.”
