Kevin Pietersen set to play for Team India after ECB snub!

There is a saying that when one door closes, another opens. As Andrew Strauss slammed the door on Kevin Pietersen's face, effectively ending all hope of the South African-born Englishman ever again playing for England, hopes emerged a new dawn awaits the legendary batsman.

The buzz in the cricketing circles is that Kalanithi Maran, the owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchisee which Pietersen represents, has used his proximity with N Srinivasan to help Pietersen play for India. But for that to happen, Pietersen needs Indian citizenship, for which some of Indian top legal luminaries have found a loophole in the law of the law to help Maran succeed in his efforts.

It's a win-win situation for all. While Maran will get a solid overseas player metamorphosing into a dometic player, thus giving his franchisee to pick another overseas player, for Srinivasan it is showing the cricketing world who is the boss — yet again! For Pietersen, it's manna from Heaven to resume his international cricket career. And as for England, they lose here as well.

The loophole found by Maran's high-profile legal team all set to find success with Pietersen’s citizenship, one can expect a flood of foreign cricketers moving into the greener pastures of India, making India’s domestic cricket, international cricket and the Indian Premier League — not necessarily in that order — much stronger.

An ecstatic Pietresen said: “I have always considered India my second home. Am thrilled that it will now be my first home.  In fact, several members of Team India called me and extended a warm welcome. Am grateful for the support and opportunity extended by Mr Maran and Mr Srinivasan.”

A source very close to Pietersen says that he is carrying a lot of weight in his heart about ECB and Andrew Strauss and will reveal everything in his soon-to-be published book. Exciting times ahead!
