Pay as per effort, not as per sex

Wimbledon has decided to pay women players as much as men. While feminists hail this decision, modernists call it an ill-gained privilege.

Pay as per effort, not as per sex

It’s unfair. If we keep asking for concessions, we will never truly be at par with men. Why demand concessions under the cloak of equality? Pay women tennis players vis-à-vis the game.

A woman should be paid what she deserves; claims about being secondary citizens are hogwash. We women should understand the meaning of equality and not ask for more than what we deserve. A person should be paid according to the number of hours s/he puts in, not according to the gender.

On the face of it, the decision doesn't sound fair, but it does make sense when you ponder a little. Physically, women are not as strong as men. Considering that it is fine if they are paid more for fewer sets.

They also do not have as much stamina a man does, so their three sets are equivalent to five sets played by male players.

However, this formula will not be logical when it comes to the workplace because there isn't so much physical work involved. Let feminists be honest and accept that they fight for preferential treatment and not equality.

It's fair if women tennis players are going to be paid as much as male tennis players. The game is physically draining and women are not as physically strong as men. Considering this, the decision is welcome.

Such a decision will not change the skewed scenario, nevertheless a good beginning. These are not concessions, as women are physically weaker than men and tennis demands stamina and physical strength.

The number of sets decided for female tennis players must have been determined after considering this.

That negates the question of this decision being unfair. At the workplace, things are different. There, people should be paid as per the number of hours they put in.

Unless women tennis players also play five sets, the decision will remain unfair.  For singles, women play opposite women, so that eliminates any extra effort to match the strength of a more powerful opponent.

The cause of equality for women is nothing but a bundle of contradictions; on one hand they ask for equality and on the other they encourage bias. It's unjust when women are given preferential treatment.

However, such partiality doesn't exist at the workplace. Individuals are paid as per the quality and quantity of their work, not gender.
