Hawkers add to the unkempt look outside Bandra station
Bandra station was restored exactly to look like it was built in the 1880s. The government spent huge money too. But where are the authorities to maintain the aesthetic beauty of the heritage structure? People are spitting on the walls, but there is nobody to check or to clean the walls and the area. This is not the way to treat any heritage structure. Moreover, without giving a thought, authorities blocked the beauty of Bandra station the constructing skywalks. Further hawkers are giving unclean look near station area. When we have reported to the BMC they just say we do the cleaning drive to get rid of them. But this has become clichéd of BMC. They cheat all activists who care for citizens and heritage buildings. The authorities must take charge and maintain heritage structures. They should impose fines those who disregard the heritage structures.

All railway stations are ignored. Some in Navi Mumbai are designed well, but we continue to treat them as dustbins. Spitting carelessly should stop. Each of us needs to act responsibly.

Despite the restoration, we continue to dirty the premises. New trains too are in a bad condition. The numerous hoardings outside the station spoil the look.

The look of the Bandra station had transformed for a while. However, the dirt and filth is back again. The urchins on the stations add to the nuisance.

Many heritage structures in Bandra are maintained well by the authorities and activists. Lots of money was spent on the restoration work at Bandra railway station. The common man should ensure it remains good.
