It's a mad, mad, mad world

Daughters falsely accusing fathers of rape, fathers raping three-year-old girls, lovers butchering their partners, children ending their lives on impulse, madman slashing unsuspecting tourists in public views. Quite certainly...

The world and everyone in it is going crazy. I guess people are so used to getting their way that they can't deal with any sort of dejection. You can't blame the media or anything else; it depends on individual outlook towards life and his or her belief-system. The guy in IIT committed suicide because he couldn't cope with the level of stress. However, there are many others who can deal with it. The solution lies in self-control and not giving in to weakness in those vulnerable moments.

This has been happening in India since the Vedic times. Wasn't sati the craziest system in the world and still it wasn't until decades later that anyone rebelled? I think that family background and peer group influence an individual's temperament all contribute to people doing bizzare things.

Both men and women are losing it. The competition and aggression among people is unbelievable. Imagine taking a gun and shooting someone six times. People are not afraid of consequences anymore or maybe it's just the heat of the moment. People seem to be on a very short fuse.
- Pooja Kadam/Vile Parle

Earlier people were a lot more disciplined and crazy impulses were controlled. Today, we have daughters accusing their fathers of rape, people runing over their fiancés for no apparent reason. A guy goes and kills a girl at the Gateway just because he is mad at his dad. There is too much freedom today. People are rich and think that they can literally get away with murder.
- Vartika Verma/Dadar

The media is to blame as it promotes the undying thirst for money and power. It always shows that the rich and successful get everything in life, so obviously every youngster today feels that these attributes are a must. When they can't achieve this, they choose the easy way out and kill themselves or others. Channels of interpersonal communication are breaking down and people have almost no time to talk to each other. Relationships have become superficial and you can never be fully sure about the person you are with.
- Reema Mehta/Dadar

In a way the world is going nuts. People are used to getting everything very easily nowadays. They can't tolerate a rejection. Maybe this is due to the lack of moral education in our world. Whatever the reason the world, is insane and we all better sort ourselves fast.
- Rucha Deshmukh/Thane

People want an easy way out and are trying to look for  solutions but in all the wrong places. They go to numerologists, change names, wear birthstones etc. What they don't realise is that self control and accepting yourself just the way you are is the only way  to survive in the world.
