Hello Bandra, try the skywalk

The futuristic Bandra East skyway is an escape route for harassed pedestrians who had to fight crowds, traffic and hawkers on their daily walk to and from the station. Brinda Majithia and Ravish Khapra were there at its inauguration for early feedback from skywalkers

More exit points, please
Organisations like Indian Oil, ONGC, and HDIL are situated along the skywalk's route. Some of us who work in these organisations had started a campaign for alternate exits to these office complexes. It is a waste for us to walk the whole way on the skywalk and then do the distance back. As it is now, the skywalk would benefit only those who need to go to Kalanagar. As a concept, the skywalk seems a great idea. But I hope it will be well lit in the nights so that women commuters can walk confidently and without fear. And hawkers would be a bad idea here.

A pleasurable walk
The skywalk is a great idea, particularly during the monsoons. It will save us the miserable walk through the puddles and the squalor surrounding the station. It also means bypassing the traffic and crowds in the area. I travel every day down this route because I work in  an IT organisation at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). I definitely intend to use the skywalk daily. For those who work in the interior of BKC it means a long walk from Kalanagar. It would help a lot of people if the skywalk was to be extended in the direction of the highway.

Let’s have more of them
I travel to Bandra daily as I am training at Oil and Natural Gas Commission.  I find the skywalk appealing-- it is clean, spacious and well-connected.  I enjoyed my walk so much today  that I plan to use it every single day. But  I think the skywalk will be particularly used by people who want to travel  directly to BKC or Kalanagar. We need more such facilities in other parts of Mumbai which are ill-equipped to handle the crush of pedestrian traffic. This  city is not pedestrian friendly, skywalks will change that.

Stretch it to up to BKC
This is the first skywalk I have ever stepped on and I have to admit that I am totally awestruck. It is a magnificent structure and the walking a distance of 1.3km makes for good exercise. I have heard quite a lot about the impressive features of this skywalk and look forward to using it regularly. I work out of Borivali and need to visit the Bandra-Kurla Complex up to four times in a month. I am all for having more such skywalks across Mumbai. This very skywalk should be extended beyond Kalanagar to BKC which is where most commuters are headed anyway.

I am really disappointed
There is no thought behind this skywalk. I commute daily from Bandra Station to Indian Oil. Today, since the skywalk has been inaugurated amidst so much hype, I decided to use it. The skywalk does not have enough exits, it was supposed to have four. I found no exit point at the Anant Kanekar Road Police Post and had to return to Bandra Station and take an auto-rickshaw. I obviously am going to be late. Given this restriction the only people using the skywalk will be those whose destination is either the station or Kalanagar.
