That world seems almost real
Every single foreign word or spell in Rowling’s book has been derived from Latin and Greek mythology. I find myself actually believing her magic because it has been factually researched. Her world almost makes most sense. Rowling has created a wonder named Harry. He is insecure and humble like any of us. I have grown up with Harry Potter.

It's amazing how Rowling has managed to record such accurate feelings of a teenager's formative years. Maybe, Harry Potter is such a big phenomenon because of Rowling and her rags-to-riches story. It seems that all the characters are an extension of herself.

I can’t enjoy the escapism
I believe in freedom of expression, and it is obvious that JK Rowling has given us her thoughts in good English using great vocabulary. However, I can't relate to her writing. I struggled to get halfway through the second Harry Potter book. As a teacher, I don't support the storyline or the kind of magic used.

I don't understand the magic. I've read The Sword in the Stone. So, I am in favour of imaginary tales for fun. But the Potter series takes it too far. With age, people think more about life and reality. So it is hard for me to enjoy the kind of escapism Rowling's books offer. There’s no real research that forms the base of her books.
