Google search goes nasal!

Google does it again! April Fools' day brings out the best of Google's pranks, the latest being Google Nose that urges users to smell the screen in front of them.

Google launched its hoax product, Google Nose calling it a "scentsation search". The product in its BETA stage, is being promoted as Google's "flagship olfactory knowledge feature enabling users to search for smells". The new search engine lets users search for smells using its "mobile aroma indexing programme that now has a 15 million scentabyte database of smells from around the world".

You can use the search engine to type in any smell you are looking for... any product from diapers to vehicles, from roses to wet dogs, and Google promises to transmit the scent to you. The promise inevitably, encourages users to stick their noses close to the screen to smell it while you can!

To make their hoax 'foolproof' Google has also introduced SMELLCD 1.8+ for precise odours and an Android app for smell detection.

You can try Google Nose here: http://www.google.com/landing/nose/index.html
