Football for the finger

With football fever at its peak, fans are finding more and more reasons to rejoice.

The season has seen the launch of many football games. The latest addition to the list is a game called Finger Footie.

Launched exclusively for the World Cup by Yellow Monkey Studios, this game gives the gamer the feeling of being one of the players.

Yellow Monkey Studios, which is an official Nintendo DS developer, has developed Finger Footie for all Apple platforms — the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

According to the producer of the game, Finger Footie is a fast-paced soccer game offering radically different game play from existing titles.

"The player does not have to control game play by using the D pad or the keys," says Shailesh Prabhu, director of Yellow Monkey Studios. "He just swipes his finger across to carry, pass, or kick the ball. Hence he feels like he is actually playing the game."

The game offers a top-down viewing interface with an intuitive player control system. It expects the player to think and strategise as he slides his fingers across the screen.

The top-down view in the game enables players to plan their strategies and implement them with great ease. The player can zoom in and out, and also tilt the phone while the ball is in the air to give it more curve.

Finger Footie is among the few games that have been launched by Indians and is available on the Apple Appstore. In addition to Finger Footie, Yellow Monkey Studios has developed games in other genres such as fighting, sports, and casual games for various clients in India and abroad.
