Breast job most popular cosmetic surgery procedure: Study

A new research has revealed that more women are getting breast implants today than they were 10 years ago.

New numbers released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that although breast enhancement surgeries have shot up almost 40% in the past decade, other cosmetic procedures, including nose reshaping, liposuction, eyelid surgery and face-lifts, are losing popularity, reports the New York Daily News.

According to the New York Times Well blog, 13.1 million cosmetic procedures took place in 2010, a 5% increase from 2009. Of those procedures, 11.6 million were noninvasive treatments and 1.6 million were operations.

About 90% of patients were women, and many were looking to give their breasts a boost. In 2010, 2,96,203 people sought breast implants and 90,000 received breast-lifts, a number up 70% from 2000.

Breast reduction operations were also up 6% from 2009, and implant removal procedures jumped 9% from the year before.

But although more women are changing their cup size than they were 10 years ago, people are less willing to undergo other invasive surgeries.

Doctors performed 43 percent fewer liposuctions than they did in 2000. Nose jobs also went down 35% and face-lifts declined by 16%.
