Abhishek Bachchan's new ball game

From secret kebab feasts to bonding over billiards — Abhishek Bachchan tells DNA he’s found a great friend in Rishi Kapoor

Abhishek Bachchan's new ball game

He was born the same year that Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor made their first on-screen appearance with the much-acclaimed Kabhie Kabhie. 33 years later, Rishi’s first interaction with Abhishek Bachchan on the sets of Dilli 6 was no less fun.

According to Abhishek, Rishi and he got along like a house on fire. “Rishi uncle and I got along very well with each other. Everyone on the sets was part of an extended family. We all used to eat and spend our spare time together,” says Abhishek.
Guess what made the two actors bond? A game of billiards! Rishi is actually a very good pool player, a skill that he has honed over the years.

Our source reveals that though Abhishek used to lose every game, he was not allowed to call it quits until uncle Rishi felt like letting him go. In fact, both of them used to rush back to the hotel for a game.

Admits Abhishek, “We use to spend most of our quality time playing billiards. It’s something that made us bond. He is really a good player on the table. At other times, we used to just sit near the table, chit-chatting about the day.”

What probably director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra doesn’t know about are the secret trips they made for the delicious kebabs at Karim’s, one of Delhi’s most famous Mughlai joints. In fact, Abhishek gave his diet a complete skip when he was with Rishi.

“Both of them being complete foodies, they once sneaked out to Karim’s for the kebabs. And forget about Abhishek’s strict diet — after that, they would start their day with hot jalebis, kesar milk and kheema from Karim’s,” says a unit member, laughing.
