DNA caught up with Amol Muzumdar on Monday evening. Excerpts:

How do you take the decision?
Yeah, it is disappointing not to find a place in the team during a crucial tie. I would be lying if I say I’m not sad. But I think sometimes you have to accept the situation and that is what I have done. I have accepted the situation and if my team needs that, it’s fine.

Do you think the team management’s decision was right, considering that you had a century against Punjab?
Look, I feel you can’t have every season to go up to your expectations. I have done well in patches against Delhi in Delhi and Gujarat in Gujarat and then I had a century against Punjab in Mumbai. So you cannot call it a bad season. But time and again you have to accept it that the team management wanted to go with an extra bowler. It was not in my control.

You need 31 runs be the highest scorer in the Ranji Trophy.
It’s no point to think on those terms. Things which are not meant to be, won’t happen. I don’t know what is going to happen and I will see what is in store for me. I am the kind of a person who will not ponder on it because I cannot control things.

Where do you go from here?
I’m not done yet. I am only thinking of getting into the playing XI and hoping to do well once I get a chance. I am hoping to get back into the sport soon and finish the season on a high.
