No cheating and better teaching

This Nagpur school installed 125 CCTV cameras as early as 1998. Here’s why

Case study

There has been a marked improvment in academic performance, discipline and quality of education imparted since we installed 125 CCTV cameras in classrooms, laboratories and corridors. Every classroom has a camera monitoring every lecture conducted. It was our principal Deepak Bajaj’s idea to install CCTV cameras. He monitors them even when he is away from school through his laptop and even talks to students.

The CCTV camera system acts as a third eye that constantly monitors students even during examinations. With a camera watching the class, students don't even try to cheat.

These cameras have substantially improved the quality of teaching too. Teachers are encouraged to compare the amount of time spent teaching a particular module and asked to discuss how they can improve upon it. Also, a teacher who uses different and innovative teaching aids feels motivated when her videos are shown as examples of good teaching. Parents have reacted positively to the move. In fact, some parents even claim that cameras in the school have managed to keep children disciplined at home too.
