Farewell to People's Prez

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the eleventh President of India, is due to retire from office on Wednesday.

A notable scientist and engineer, he is often referred to as the 'Missile Man of India' for his work and is considered a leading progressive, mentor, innovator and visionary in India. He was the first scientist and first bachelor to occupy Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Kalam has received honorary doctorates from thirty universities. He is also the recipient of India's three highest civilian honours, the Padma Bhushan in 1981; the Padma Vibhushan in 1990; and the Bharat Ratna in 1997.

As he makes way out of Raisina Hill, this is your one chance to greet the outgoing 'People's President' before he takes a bow.
