Siblings lose parents and elder sister in Mumbai-Pune e-way tragedy

The fatal accident near Sangroli toll plaza on Monday morning has left ten-year-old Omkar and his seven-year-old sister Sakshi Kamble orphans. Omkar survived with minor injuries, while Sakshi did not take the trip as she had gone to visit her grandmother.

Omkar’s father Shrikant, mother Nirmala and sister Shraddha were killed in the accident. The Kambles lived in a shanty at Laxminagar in Yerawada area. Speaking to DNA, Shrikant’s sister-in-law Harsha Kamble said, “Shrikant, his wife, elder daughter and Omkar had gone to attend Eknath Bahule’s marriage in Mumbai. I had even talked to Nirmala on Sunday morning. She had requested me to attend the ceremony, but I could not make the trip due to a previous engagement. Our neighbour woke me and my family up at 3.30 am and broke the sad news.” Shirkant’s younger brother Sanjay visited the hospitals to identify the victims. “We were unable to locate Nirmala’s body till 8.30 am. Later, I got to know about her whereabouts and informed the family members and relatives,” Sanjay said.
