Shiv Sena corporator from Thergaon Shrirang Barne has demanded that the civic body speeds up the work of constructing a flyover in Dange Chowk. DNA, it its report ‘A cumbersome commute for all’ on December 2, had spoken about the problems faced by the commuters in travelling through the area.
In a letter to the PCMC commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi, Barne stated that for a year, the commuters have been on the receiving end of problems.
“The work was started on December 11, 2011. Though the deadline to complete the work was six months, only 60% of construction has been completed so far,” Barne said.
He added that the civic administration should at least repair the diversions at the site. Last year, PCMC sanctioned Rs21 crore for the project. Though the initial provision for the project was Rs16 crore, the standing committee had increased it by Rs5 crore. puneinbox@dnaindia.net
