Proposal to change PCMC logo scrapped

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has finally decided to scrap its proposal of changing its logo.

PCMC had proposed to change its 30-year-old official logo (bodhchinh) but it met with strong opposition from the politicians, social activists and citizens.

PCMC commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi on Tuesday issued a letter of cancellation of the proposal which was tabled in the standing committee for approval.

Pimpri-Chinchwad is one of the most developing cities of the country which achieved the ISO standard, Best City Award and gold medal for its e-governance projects.

The industrial twin town wanted recognition as the tourist city and hence the civic administration had decided to change its logo. The civic body had also demanded application from architects, designers, experts and citizens in this regard.

PCMC had also decided to organise a competition for the selection of the logo. The civic body had proposed Rs1 lakh, Rs75,000 and Rs50,000 as price money for the competition. It had also proposed nearly Rs7 lakh funds for changing the logo.
