Tightening the noose around hotel owners to ensure that they shut their establishments to abide by the deadline, a team led by deputy commissioner of police Shahaji Umap (zone - 3) raided Hotel Saloni in Pimpri area in the wee hours of Wednesday and booked nine people including the owner of the hotel.

The hotel owner, Rajesh Lalwani, was booked for running the hotel beyond the time limit and 11 people were booked for consuming liquor without liquor licence.

Umap said, “We received a tip-off that the owner keeps the hotel open beyond the deadline and raided the place around 1 am. The
owner of the hotel was booked under Bombay Police Act and nine people including the hotel staff too were booked.”

After the medical check-up of all detainees, 11 people tested positive and they were arrested under section 84, 85 of Bombay Prohibition Act.

All detainees were produced before a court in Pimpri and released on bail.
