PCNTDA drive: 700 notices for illegal expansion; action from July 23

Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) will start its anti-encroachments drive again from July 23 to remove illegal extended constructions.

PCNTDA chief executive officer Dr Yogesh Mhase told DNA on Monday, “PCNTDA will start its anti-encroachment drive again from July 23. Unauthorised constructions will be razed in phases. Action will also be taken against illegal extensions by Low Income Group (LIG) sector 25. Proposal to regularise illegal construction by charging penalty was pending for 20 years. We’re carrying out  demolitions as per court order.”

The PCNTDA had issued 700 notices to residents in LIG. Mhase said, “There are two types of illegal structures. Some come up on land reservations. The other is where residents purchase land officially and don’t follow building norms. In LIG sector, residents extended structures across margins, which is not allowed.

Several structures had obtained permission for residential and set up commercial establishments. Some sectors have front portion of residential buildings used for commercial purposes. So, we will demolish such structures.”
