PCMC campaign under police cover

Over the past four days, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has filed 41 first information reports (FIRs) against newly-built unauthorised constructions.

According to the civic administration, 20 FIRs have been filed with Sangvi police station, 15 with Hinjewadi police station, four with Pimpri police station and one each with Vishrantwadi and MIDC police stations respectively.

After identifying 973 illegal constructions that have come up after 31 March, 2012, the civic body recently launched the demolition drive in accordance with the Bombay high court order and state government directives. It has decided to plan demolition of illegal structures whenever police security is available, after razing illegal structures in Talawde and Walhekarwadi areas.

PCMC commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi has appointed officers in its four zonal wards to check the ongoing and new illegal constructions and take legal action against them. The civic body has already issued notices to owners of unauthorised constructions.
