Adopted Linda Bery revisits Shreevatsa to give home to two children

It is history revisited for 37-year-old Megha alias Linda Bery. Along with her husband Nicolas (36), the Swedish national adopted two siblings Yogesh alias Simon (4) and Trupti alias Cindra (15 months) from Shreevatsa.

Megha was adopted by a Swedish national when she was just 15 months old and left by her guardian at Shreevatsa. Now after three decades, she visited the same organisation to extend her family.

As per the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), New Delhi, norms, when a foreign national wants to adopt children they are shown pictures and no opinion of selection of children are given to them. The Swedish couple was shown pictures of the siblings and they finalised the two children. CARA is the nodal agency for adoptions in the country.

Linda works as an assistant purchaser while Nicolas is a salesman. Both are residents of Malmoa in Sweden. Having met at a restaurant 12 years ago, they have been living together for nine years and got married in 2009.

As it was not possible for Linda to conceive, the family decided to adopt a child. As Swedish families are well-known for adopting children from other countries and the couple met others to share their experience of bringing up adopted children.

Linda said, “When I saw Cindra, I went into a flashback as I was of the same age when I was adopted. We have been staying together for six weeks and both are calling us mama and papa and making us feel on top of the world. After my adoption, my parents had a biological son but they never differentiated us. Soon after the decision of adopting kids, I have packed bags for both my two children with books, clothes, shoes and all.” She said of leaving hope to find her biological parents after coming to know that she was an adopted child.

“I am happy and the love for my children is love at first sight. I am good at gymnasium and I see that Cindra is more like me,” she said.

Nicolas said, “Expressing love needs no language and this was first things that we realised when we personally met our two children. Both our parents are happy with our decision and are waiting to welcome them.”
