- KHIDI Concludes Healthcare Cooperation MOU with the UAE Military

The transference of UAE soldiers for medical treatment to South Korea is expected to kick into gear.

SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI, President Ko, Kyung-Hwa) announced it had concluded the MOU for healthcare cooperation with the UAE Armed Forces on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012.

The MOU is to propel forth tangible cooperation between South Korea and the UAE Military in the healthcare industry. Henceforward, KHIDI will play the role of constructing the mechanism for business cooperation with the Korean medical institutions and other related institutions as well as adjusting the workload among each party to push ahead the healthcare cooperation with the UAE Military.
*Realm of Cooperation: Patient Referrals, Visiting Physician Program, Establishment and Support of U-Health System

Following the conclusion of the MOU, the UAE Military is expected to begin referring their patients to four Korean medical institutions. During the early stages of the agreement, around 400 patients equaling to approximately 10% of the total patients that are referred by the UAE Military annually, will receive their treatment in South Korea amounting to more than 20 billion KRW in profit.

**Number of Patients Referred to Foreign Medical Institutions by the UAE Military: Approximately 4,000 Patients Annually 

President Ko of KHIDI stated, "The conclusion of the MOU is a great feat made possible over the basis of trust that was constructed through the cooperation in the healthcare industry between South Korea and the UAE during the previous year. It may also be the successful model of cooperation for the Korean Medical Industry to enter into other Middle-East Countries."

Along with the successful closure of the MOU, KHIDI is also working to formularize cooperation with the largest general medical service provider in the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and Saudi Arabia's key government organizations while planning to further expand the range of cooperation in the healthcare industry with other Middle-East Countries.
