Cricket victories
October has been a very lucky month for Indian sports, particularly cricket. First we won the Test series against the Australians in a dramatic manner. Sachin Tendulkar, even at the age of 37, hit a double century and reached the world record of 14,000 runs. Again, on Wednesday, Team India defeated Australia in the one-day international, chasing a target of 289 runs. Congratulations are due to Virat Kohli who hit his one-day international best of 118 runs and Yuvraj Singh who came in at the right time to hit a half century (‘VIRATAPATNAM!’, DNA, October 21). May the young ‘men in blue’ lead Indian cricket to greater heights.

This is with reference to the excellent win at Vizag over the mighty Aussies in the one day international. Though initially our bowlers did an excellent job by restricting the Aussies, it was the brute power of the Aussies which cost us 114 runs during the last 10 overs. Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina ensured that we won the match. After the 2-0 victory in the Test series, the win at Vizag must have demoralised the Aussie team.
Well done, Team India, keep it up.

Spill the beans
Now that investigations against the culprits responsible for the shoddy job and failure to deliver as per the CWG contract have begun, the public is eagerly awaiting the end
result. With the contractor being
projected as the sole villain, it is time for Emaar-MGF to spill the beans on shareholders of the
daylight robbery. If it fails to do so, that would be tantamount to shielding the sharks for obvious reasons.

Sound bytes
This is with reference to ‘Sena targets mosque loudspeakers’ (DNA, October 21). While the Sena is entitled to its freedom of opinion just like every Indian is, it needs to draw the line between airing its opinion and acting in contempt of the high court. Their latest target happens to social activist Sumaira Abdulali. The Sena is trying to hide its misdeeds by targeting Sumaira and giving it a communal tone. People must be aware that Sumaira Abdulali, through her NGO Awaaz, was one of the activists who was
instrumental in getting the 10pm to 6am sound deadline implemented. Doubting the integrity of such a person and casting aspersions on her intentions is baseless. The Sena should stick to developmental issues, rather than raking issues which serve no good.
