Mumbai citizen Theresa Pinto on why she is pining hopes on her elected representative

The Fort Area Citizens Forum writes an open letter to Raj K Purohit, hoping that the newly elected MLA would resolve their issues

Mumbai citizen Theresa Pinto on why she is pining hopes on her elected representative

Dear Mr. Purohit,
The Fort Area Citizens Forum congratulates you on winning the polls. We have been active in generating awareness about cleanliness in the Fort area.

The Fort market is a historical landmark, but in dire need of a facelift. It is almost impossible to stop the age-old practice of throwing garbage out of windows, especially in house gullies. Presently, hawkers who sit around the Fort market area use the pavement to cook food, wash utensils and bathe in the open. Parking in this area is a nightmare! Additionally, we are also facing the problem of rodents, which make the place unhygienic.

Here are some suggestions that we would like to put forth to you:
1.Construction of a food court/plaza, where vendors can sell their vegetables in an organised manner, backed by proper licenses.
2. A well-designed market with better infrastructure under the Fort Market Redevelopment Project as we need a hygienic and clean market.
3. Motorised and non-motorised vehicles should not be permitted within the perimeter of the market.
4. Frequent sanitation checks, which include pest control and rodent control and an organised system for throwing garbage.
6. Methods and means to ensure that rules and procedures are being followed. If not, offenders must be penalised.
Everything can be achieved but we have to begin somewhere. The Fort Area Citizens Forum looks forward to an opportunity to meet with you to gain your support.
