IIT topper from Pune wants to pursue engineering

Rohan Prinja, who secured the 53rd all-India rank in the IIT-JEE and topped the Pune city list of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) aspirants, is keen to pursue either the electrical or mechanical streams at the IIT.

A student of the P Jog Junior College and Bakliwal Tutorials in the city, Rohan told DNA at his home in Mohammedwadi on Thursday that studies were never a burden for him. “I enjoyed every bit of the two years preparing for this examination. My favourite subject is mathematics,’’ Rohan said.

Understandably, Rohan’s mother Anupam is delighted at his achievement. “We are overjoyed with his results. We have always believed in his potential and encouraged him to do well,’’ said Anupam.

Rohan was of the opinion that the IIT-JEE was not very difficult for motivated candidates. “The most important feature of a competitive examination is to be surrounded by an equally motivated friends’ circle,’’ Rohan said. He said the special batch at the tutorials helped him on this front.

Rohan does not believe in studying for 15-20 hours a day. “If you follow a timetable set by the coaching centre, you are bound to excel,’’ Rohan said.

Rohan is no bookworm and loves playing tennis and reading books. His mother Anupam said, “He just picks up and reads anything and
everything.’’
