Zuri Group Global, the multinational congolmerate running the Zuri Hotels and Resorts chain, is preparing to commence work on its next project, a Rs200-crore five-star luxury hotel in Devanahalli here.

The group has acquired six acres of prime land near the new international airport for the 150-room hotel.    

Bobby Kamani, director, in a statement said that the decision to invest in India was spurred by the vast opportunities that the de-regulated economy presented.

Going forward, it plans to expand its footprint and increase its investments in India, he said.    

Also, central to the group's expansion plans is the announced foray into the green segment. The Zuri Group Global will be launching green energy projects across the country.

The group has already made investments in windmills located in Tamil Nadu, besides more initiatives under the green energy vertical overseas.

Promoted by a consortium of investors from the Middle East, the Zuri group began its India operations in 1999 with their first property in Goa. Currently, the group owns and operates six luxury hotel properties at various locations in India, Kenya and the UK.

Headquartered in Bangalore, the group's current turnover stand as at Rs100 crore in India and Rs150 crore internationally.
