TVS reports 12% increase in sales in October

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today reported a 12% increase on sales of vehicles during the month of October 2009.
   
The company has sold 1.31 lakh units in October 2009 as compared to 1.17 lakh in the same month last year, a company press release here said.
   
Over the last seven months, the company has seen a sales growth of  6% as compared to last year.
   
The company has sold 8.68 lakh units in the last seven months of this year as compared to 8.19 lakh units in the same period of last year.
   
In the domestic market, sales witnessed an 18% growth by registering 1.18 lakh units in October 2009 as against one lakh units in corresponding period of last year.
   
In addition, scooter sales have marked 20% growth by registering 28,301 units in October 2009 as against 23,487 units same month last year.
   
However, total motorcycle sales declined in the month of October 2009 as compared to same month of last year.
   
TVS Motor Company has sold 56,465 units in October 2009 as against 59,217 units in October, 2008 the release said.
   
Exports also dipped, registering 12,466 units in Oct 2009 as against 17,013 units in the corresponding period last year.
   
The release said the company, in a bid to increase its presence in the three wheeler market, unveiled TVS King Arjun and TVS King LS in Kolkata and Bangalore in October 2009.
